…..He was our foundation member, says HMCL
Reactions have continued to trail the ordination of Aare Gani Adams as an Apostle in the Cherubim and Seraphim church.
This is as the Holy Micheal Church of the Lord has reacted to claims that he has ties with the church.
Pictures of him holding a certificate of his ordainment, while donning a C&S garment surfaced on the internet earlier this week, just as the social media is awash with them.
The ordination reportedly held at The Saviour’s Ministry Worldwide (Cherubim and Seraphim church) under the leadership of His Eminence Baba Aladura Solomon Aluko JP.
Meanwhile, the development had since sparked criticisms in the public space, as Seraphs and non Seraphs questioned the rationale behind his ordination, despite his background as an OPC leader and the Aare Ona Kakanfo of the Yoruba race.
Among prominent Seraphs who expressed their displeasure is firebrand minister of the word of God, Pastor Segun Micheal, as he claimed to have shed tears upon seeing the picture. He further called for the probe of the church where the ordination took place.
“I wept when I saw this and I think a strict disciplinary action should be taken against this church. If this is not done on time, we will be forced to take it up.” He wrote on a Facebook thread.
In a similar tone, Kwara based C&S cleric, Prophet Abraham Adebayo, described the ordination as a total sacrilege.
“This is a total sacrilege and this C&S branch should be called to order. What a disgrace,” he wrote on his Facebook page. He also called on the council of baba Aladuras to do something about the development, adding that “If they don’t, then it seems we don’t have one.”
An Akure based Seraph, Pastor Adeyemi Alaba, in a piece titled: “C&S: It’s time we correct these errors”, noted that members of the fold have to look inwards and correct the multitude of errors currently being practised as doctrine in many of the C&S churches.
He said the C&S church is a body of Christ and nobody can be a member of the church without first being a Christian.
Among insinuations making the rounds are claims that there’s a form of financial inducement relating to similar cases of ordination in the C&S church.
But according to Alaba, “It’s time we also tell ourselves this truth, ministerial titles like apostle, Evangelist, pastor, prophet and teachers should not be for sale. This are ministerial gift it should not be used as a reward for coming to church regularly and giving of fat tithe and offerings.”
As reactions however heightened, as to what ties he has with the church to have earned such title, claims emerged that he was once a member of the Holy Micheal Church of the Lord.
While confirming this to Acts of Seraphs, the chairman of HMCL, Itire-Surulere branch, Apostle Yinka Odubonajo, said the claim was true, as Gani Adams was a foundation member of the church, the branch to be precise.
He said Adams started worshiping with them at a tender age of seven alongside his mother (of blessed memory) who was then a member of the Army of Salvation.
According to elder Odubanajo, Gani, who later learnt carpentry work produced twelve benches for the church, as there are still two of it remaining in the church.
“His grew up as a carpenter and did benches numbering about 12 for the church. Infact, we still have two of it in the church.”
According to the cleric, “when he started growing up, he later joined the OPC. That was when he no longer attends the church and we did not hear from him anymore.
“But after sometime, we were planning our anniversary and somebody gave him our envelope, and he said, ‘Ha! I have vowed to contribute to the church once I become someone in life’ and since then, he has been contributing to the church development.” He narrated.
Odubanajo, however expressed amazement at the news of his ordination. He said the relationship they both have always made Gani Adams notify him of any programme he attends across Christian denominations, but he was surprised at this particular one, as he was not aware of it.
“I have been calling him to ask what brought about the ordination, but he is yet to pick my calls. But I’m sure he will return it like he always does,” he said.
Asked of his own reaction to the development, Odubanajo said Aare Gani Adams has always been invited to different churches including Pentecostal churches, but such recognition should have come in form of a honour such as patron, and not an Apostle.
