As female youth in the C&S fold we are all preparing for marriage and it is required of us to carry along vessels with extra oil.
To have extra oil is to have the presence of God in our lives, it can be taken as the presence of the Holy Spirit. It is the extra oil that keeps fire burning to see what is ahead of us in our marital Journey. You can’t walk freely when you are in darkness because you wouldn’t want to hit your leg against a stone or fall into a pit. Marriage is an unforeseen journey and it requires an extra oil in our vessel. A price is to be paid to obtain this oil, to have a continual presence of God, we have to spend more time at the feet of Jesus, it is the provision we’ve made for the extra oil that will preserve us in these last days, it is not enough to say we are born again, we must go for the extra oil, we must have a koinonia(fellowship) with the Holy Spirit. We have to make influence of our values(Our career, dignity,character, virtue), but many believes that since they have been given such values, they leave it untouched which is not meant to be so, these values are gifts from God and we are lucky to be given these opportunities, proverbs 31:29 says “many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellent them all.”. I will urge us to keep the fire burning for Christ.
Lack of extra oil will make one weak and won’t let one to do what is meant to be done. For instance, take a look at the lamp when the oil in it is drying up, the thread that brings the light becomes weak and before you know it, it goes off. Having no extra oil will drift your attention away from things you should take seriously in your marriage, you become nonchalant because you are too weak to tackle them.
Lack of extra oil makes prayer life become uninteresting and when the prayer life is weak, the devil exploits one weakness. For your marriage, Your prayer life needs to be ever burning because the plan of the devil is to tear homes apart.
One thing that makes our vessel leak is Sin and also sin could dilute the oil which makes the oil dry up speedily in the lamp. Fornication is common among youths, females indulge in all sort of sexual immorality when the Bible says let the bed be undefiled. We must consecrate ourselves, i.e, make ourselves holy; we must walk in holiness because along the Journey we will meet with the hills and who shall ascend unto it , only those with clean hands and a pure heart are permitted to ascend.
In conclusion, as seraph youths, we should always hunger for extra oil, we shouldn’t stay comfortable with the oil we have, we should tarry more in our secret place. We should make ourselves the generation that seek the face of the Lord, a fire branded fold. We should pray that he delivers us from half measures that can make us become a minimum Christian.
