…..Gov. Seyi Makinde, other dignitaries on invitation list
Amidst a sharp decline in coronavirus pandemic outbreak in the country, the Cherubim and Seraphim Agbo Jesu Conference is set to hold its annual Agelu Jerusalem pilgrimage slated for July 24.
Unlike the restriction placed on physical attendance last year, Agelu mountain will, this year, witness its usual inflow of pilgrims from across the country and overseas.
Confirming this to Acts of Seraphs, Supt. Apostle Gideon Oluwale, the personal assistant to His Eminence, Samuel Olusegun Ajayi Akintobi, Arojibikah II, said, this year’s event, with the theme: Work It Out (Your Salvation) Phil 2:12, is open to everyone, while awareness is also ongoing to keep members of the public informed.
According to him, the leadership of the conference has made visitations to various media houses to give updates on this year’s convention.
“This year’s convention will take the usual shape. So we are expecting a lot of people. We have also gone to radio stations in Ibadan to inform people the event will hold,” he said.
Oluwale who doubles as the Chairman of this year’s convention also noted that the Conference had extended an invitation to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state as well as other notable dignitaries.
Oke Agelu (Agelu Mountain) is stretched over three kilometers on the Iseyin-Ibadan highway in Ado-Awaye, a community near Iseyin in Oyo State.
The annual pilgrimage which holds July 24 through July 27 had since attracted a multitude of attendees from across the world.
Findings by this platform revealed that the late Baba Aladura Alfred Akintobi Ajayi, Arobijika I, started climbing the mountain in the company of two other clerics, as led by the Holy Spirit. Signs and wonders that abound thereafter saw to the subsequent increase in numbers of attendees.
2020 CONVENTION IN RETROSPECT
For the first time since 1933 when the late founder of Agbojesu conference started the annual pilgrimage, the stretch of both Awaye and Oshogun entries inward Agelu Jerusalem was with no traces of people, except for a few inhabitants, while the convention lasted. It was no thanks to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak which resulted in a ban on religious gatherings, whereby people were restricted from attending the annual event.
Only a few members of the Conference led by its leadership were allowed access to observe the low-key Agelu celebration. The event however enjoyed sufficient media coverage, courtesy members of the USA/Canada Agbojesu Sub-Conference. The Sub-Conference sponsored a team of Seraph media personnel to ensure that the event was streamed live on the existing Seraph media platforms for people to watch from all over the world.
LAST YEAR’S “DIVINE HEALING” THEME AND DECLINE IN COVID-19
It would be recalled that last year’s convention was tagged – “Divine Healing”. This also saw elders of Agbojesu Conference offered rounds of supplications in a sheer appeal to God over the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.
Leading a handful of devotees to acsend the mountain being the second day of the annual Agelu pilgrimage, the elders while declaring an end to the disease noted that it apparently came into the world through sin, and also a way of God expressing His displeasure towards man’s sinful tendencies.
The clerics who took turns to pray at the top of the mountain, however, prophesied and declared the disease null among members of the C&S church and the world at large.
Meanwhile, as of today, Nigeria is number four among top performing countries for return to Pre-Covid activities according to a report by The Economist. The decline in Covid-19 infections in the country is a testament to this.
SECURITY
Elder Olawale while speaking with Acts of Seraphs on this year’s event revealed that security personnel would be mobilized to the venue of the convention. This, according to him, is due to the spate of insecurity in the country. “We are going to mobilize more security operatives this year due to the rate of insecurity across the country,” he said.
SERAPHS IN HIGH SPIRITS
Having been restricted to the online broadcast of the event last year, Seraphs and non Seraphs are earnestly preparing to converge on the mountain this year. Knowing fully well that the restriction on religious procession has been lifted, most of whom Acts of Seraphs came in contact with expressed their readiness to partake in this year’s event which they last attended in 2019. “I have missed the pilgrimage experience and the rounds of spiritual exercise. I can’t wait to be part of it this year,” Seraph Akintayo Oshunrotimi told Acts of Seraphs.
