Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state has commended leaders in the Cherubim and Seraphim church for their roles in sustaining religious tolerance in the state.
He made this known at the opening ceremony of the church’s Annual General Conference which held Thursday at Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac Town, Lagos.
According to the governor, the prayers of the church have contributed immensely to the success the current administration has recorded since its inception.
While expressing delight in being part of the occasion, he described it as one of the way by which the church is edifying the body of Christ.
With reference to the theme of the programme: “Pulling Down The Barriers”, the governor who was represented by his Special Adviser on Christian Religious Matters, Reverend David Verrals, said it was relevant and very apt for a time we are in, as many people are distracted with a lot of things preventing them from serving God diligently.
“The theme of the programme is relevant significant to help the church especially at a time like this to re-appraise and reconsider what our role should be in the society, and we can play it well and where we have failed to play it adequately well.” He added.
He also described the supreme head of the fold, His Most Eminence Prophet Dr. Solomon Adegboyega Alao (JP) as a good father to the state for all the prayers he has always offered for the success of his administration.
According to him, the impact of the prayer is always evident in the developmental growth that Lagos state has attained since the administration commenced its activities.
“We covet more of these your prayers knowing fully well that it is the power that has continue to hold the state in peaceful co-existence and it is the power that has made the state to be in the state of excellence which we have found it today.” He added.
He also appreciated all faithful aherents of the fold for their support in all policies and projects of Lagos state government.
