The choir department of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Atunbi Moses, Oyemekun District, Akure has launched its debut album.
It was the first in the history of the District choir to go into the studio and wax an album. In what turned out a coincidence was the celebration of its 8th year anniversary as the event witnessed influx of members of Oyemekun District choir both far and near including those in Institutions of Higher Learning.
The 7 tracks album is titled “Oore ofe mi to fun o” (My Joy is Sufficient for You) is taken from the book of 2 Corinthians 12 verses 4 to 9.
The launch started at the district headquarters, Opopola street behind old Stadium, Akure on Friday 29th March, 2019 with musical concert and inter church Bible debate on Saturday 30th March, 2019 and the main launching on Sunday 31st March, 2019 .
The concert was not just an ordinary one as different churches were invited to sing on the title ” The Treasure in spiritual Songs.”
Awards were also given to the best performing churches during the launch. Some of the recipients of the awards are Celestial Church of Christ, Canaan Land, Akure as the best background vocalist Church while the best composing choir goes to Atunbi Moses Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Agbala Iwosan, and Cherubim and Seraphim Church Oke Igbala choir won the most uniformed choir.
Some members of the choir who had shown excellence before and during the production of the album were equally given awards. The categories of the awards include most dedicated member, best instrumentalist, most punctual member and so on.
The event witnessed dignitaries such as the Deputy Baba Aladura J. O Bodunde who is the District Chairman, Senior Superior Ap Amodeni and an ex-official of the district, Superintendent Apostle Prince Kolawole Adams.
Some of the awardees expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the choir unit for recognising their efforts.
An awardee, Adedeji Adebowale said, “I was surprised to hear my name as the best instrumentalist, I am really delighted.”
He promised to be more dedicated in his call. Adedeji also advised other members to put in their best in advancing the kingdom of God through music.
The programme came to a close with a closing prayer amidst great joy at exactly 5:20 p.m.
