Baba Olori clarifies on “Ètò àdúrà”, “Ète àdúrà”

Unwholesome practices that often bring the name of Cherubim and Seraphim church to disrepute amidst other denominations were brought to the fore at the ongoing 2019 Annual General Conference.

Among them was the fetish practice of some churches who identify with the fold.

The Supreme Head, His Most Eminence Prophet Dr. Solomon Adegboyega Alao (JP) who shed light on this said it was never in the habit of the founding fathers of the fold to engage in such practices let alone handing them down to generations after them.

While reacting to a question during the session of the presentation of a paper titled: “Pull Down The Barrier” by the Deputy Superintendent of Faith Mission C&S church, Dr Yomi Sholoye, he said there is a clear difference between “Ètò àdúrà” which are prayer plans anchored on the holy scriptures and “Ète àdúrà” which are prayer plans deceitfully anchored on substances that are not supported by the scripture.

He reiterated that the C&S church is a Bible believing church, just as it is not cut out for the shenanigans some quarters have gotten themselves enmeshed in.

It would be recalled that the cleric recently harped on the resolve of the church to continue to bring bad eggs in the fold to light.

Speaking further on the subject, he said “Eto Adura” is to, for instance, recommend the book of psalms for someone and, as such, use it to bless water as the case may be; while “Ete Adura” is to recommend all sort of coloured candles such as red, blue, yellow and what is called “St. Micheal candle”. He wittily stated that if St. Micheal throw down his candle into the venue, no one would wait to withstand its effect.

He also cited instances whereby some people would mix perfume with soap while they remain oblivious of the fact that it is very acidic and could cause skin cancer.

He said whatever seem contrary to the use of water and anointing oil is not of the scripture as well as the church.

He also reflected on what has been referred to as traditions in the fold. While citing the case the of three people’s prayer as observed during church service, he said it is not mandatory for women to always be the second person to pray in what has been the usual practice across board.

According to him, in a case where there is no woman in the church, will the prayer not be answered? He also frowned at the relegation of women and youths in the church, just as he called on leaders of constituent churches to allow them to be relevant through series of engagements.
