CALL TO GLORY: Elder Victor Adewusi, The Cleric Who Knew And Prepared Ahead Of His Passing

…His Biography

….Funeral Rites Begin Sept 20

Losing someone so special is always a hard pill to swallow; the same way it is for the family of late Supt. Gen. Apostle (Dr) Victor Aduragbemi Adewusi JPil, and members of The Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Oke Ibukun (Branco). These also include friends, colleagues, and multitudes of adopted sons and daughters all over the world.

As they sorely miss and pay obligatory tributes to the late Elder-In-Charge who transitioned to eternal glory on August 21, 2021, their consolation is in his peaceful rest at the bosom of his Creator.

However, as a popular saying goes, “everybody knows death is inevitably coming, but it never fails to catch everybody by surprise.” But the turn of events that preceded the passing of Elder Adewusi somewhat proved otherwise, as he was said to have known that he would soon leave this sinful world, thus his preparation up until the moment he drew his last breath.

According to checks by Acts of Seraphs, the late cleric started showing the signs around April when he delegated his responsibilities in the church to his deputies. It is worthy of note that late elder Adewusi was, until his passing, a Patron of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Lagos Island Chapter, a Patron of Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), the Chairman of The Finance and Budget Committee of The Eternal Sacred Order of The Cherubim & Seraphim (Mount Zion Conference) and Chairman, Lagos Territorial Conference of The Eternal Sacred Order of The Cherubim & Seraphim (Mount Zion Conference)

Meanwhile, around May, the late spiritual head reportedly called the elders of the church and told them that he had a powerful vision about visitations to every church under his territory in Lagos. His mission during the visitation, as seen in the vision, was to anoint church members for deliverance and breakthrough; and also engage with elders of the churches.

He, therefore, began the visitations to the churches every Sunday, just as he bought bottles of water with his own money to be distributed to members of the churches. He intended to visit all the churches before the advent of the Adoption Anniversary in August. By the last Sunday in July, he had already visited over seventy percent of the churches in Lagos territory; praying with them and delivering goodwill messages. At this point, nobody knew his visitation was to tacitly say goodbye to members of the territory.

In late July, he was said to have reviewed his wardrobe, brought out the best of his T-shirts and dresses; and gave to the gateman manning the entrance of his residence in Festac. Also, during his last church attendance on August 8, 2021, he asked all church members to join him in a “Special Thanksgiving”. He sang and danced gracefully to the altar, with the entire church congregation behind him. He was especially happy because the four songs he cherished most – Baba Olor’isun ibukun gbogbo, A f’ope f’Olorun, E je k’a jumo f‘ope f’Olorun and Mo je baba l’ope –  were sang that very day. He proceeded to financially appreciate his son, Yemi Adewusi, who led the songs on that fateful day. That was the last time church members saw their loving Elder in Charge in person.

Acts of Seraphs also learnt that, till his transition, he was still communicating with family, friends and members of the church, informing them that he was a little bit under the weather and just needed to “rest”. On the 21st of August, he bathed himself, ate breakfast by himself and spoke to his children. By 10 am, he rested his head on a seat, answered the call of his Maker and went into peaceful, serene and eternal rest; surrounded by his loving wife and family members.

Meanwhile, plans have been perfected to give the late Chartered Accountant a befitting burial. The week-long funeral rites will commence on Monday, Sept. 20 through Saturday 25, 2021.

A service of songs organised by the Youth for Christ of Oke Ibukun will hold at his Festac residence on Monday by 5pm, while an evening of tributes by Yabatech alumni, of which he was a member, will hold via zoom on Tuesday.

The service of songs will continue at C&S Oke Ibukun Branco, as OAIC will hold a session on Wednesday, while members of the church will hold another session on Thursday; both to start by 5pm. Also, the Christian wake slated to hold on Friday by 4pm and lying-in-state on Saturday by 8am will both take place at Racecourse, Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos.

The burial service will also hold at the same venue by 10am, after which his remains will be laid to rest at the vaults and gardens, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos.

As Elder Adewusi bids the world goodbye, he has left an indelible footprint in the sands of time that he would long be long be remembered for. While some only have a knowledge of him in the Christendom, not so many knew that he was also from a royal family.

Also worth knowing about him is his sterling academic feats, and how he was made to personally resit for a job entrance exam to be sure of how he initially beat all other applicants with a wide margin.

For someone who had built a Godly family via a successful marriage, his first encounter with his wife some decades ago, and how he declared his intention on the same spot is quite amazing. What culminated into an inspiring service in God’s vineyard and many more astonishing facts about him are detailed in the biography below.

BIOGRAPHY
EARLY LIFEApostle Victor Adekunle Adewusi was born into the Royal Family of His Royal Highness, Late Oba Williams AdeOluwa Adewusi on the 21st of November, 1950 in Irun-Akoko;  five kilometers from Ikare,  Ondo State. His mum, Olori Florence Adewusi, also from a Royal Family, was Kabiyesi’s first wife. He was thus, a royal blue blood from both parents. At the age of 4 years and 8 months, spiritual providence forced him to relocate to Lagos, where he began to live with his father’s younger brother. That uncle was Late Special Apostle Benjamin Kayode (B.K.) Adewusi. He however, never opened his mouth to call him his Uncle. He only referred to him as “Father”. He lived with him from 1955-1977.
EDUCATIONThe young Adekunle began his Primary School education at The African Church Cathedral (Bethel) School at 59 Broad Street, Lagos, which is opposite the popular Mandilas Building. His Primary School education was between 1959-1964. During the primary school period, he was opportuned to hold three positions – the Health Prefect, Time Keeper and school’s Senior Prefect. His best subjects were Mathematics, English Language and Civics (now Current Affairs). He was always topping the Class in those subjects throughout the period of his Primary School days. He passed his First School Leaving Certificate Examination in grand style. He was weak in Geograghy and Biology subjects because he hated anything that had to do with drawings. He had his Secondary education at The Nigeria Premier College, situated at Jibowu and very close to The West African Examination Council (WAEC). Adekunle Adewusi was the Class Captain on five (5) occasions apart from being the Health Prefect as well as The Assistant/Senior Prefect of the School. His best Subjects were; Mathematics, English Literature, English Language, Chemistry and Physics. His School Certificate results in 1971 were excellent but he got P7 in Religious Knowledge. That was really embarrassing to him because he was very good at various Church activities and he was very sound, Biblically. In order to further his education, he got admitted to Yaba College of Technology in 1981 to read Accounting and that was where he met majority of the influential men and women he related with till his passing on. After completing his OND in 1983, he had the compulsory 1 year of Industrial Training between 1983-1984 at The Bank of the North and went back for his HND between 1984-1986. He completed it at the same Yabatech in May, 1986 with Upper Credit. He sat for ICAN and qualified during the May diet in 1991. He completed his MBA at Federal University of Technology Akure in 2001.PROFESSIONAL LIFEPreoccupied with securing a good job after leaving Yabatech, he gained employment as a Sorter with The Posts and Telegraphs (P&T) just 2 weeks after the results were out. That P&T is now NIPOST. It was not too long after joining P&T that one of the Late Elders of the  Church, Late Elder C. O. Odusanya, ensured that he was employed by Bank of The North on the 27th of December, 1972 as a Senior Clerk. Being a Senior Member of Staff of the Bank at that time, many people thought that the Late Elder Odusanya gave him an inkling about questions at the Entrance Examination of the bank; due to his performance. He came tops among the 65 Applicants with yawning gaps between his scores and the 2nd Person. The incident drew the attention of the Branch Manager, a Caucasian man in the person of Mr. C.W. Steel. Young Victor Adewusi was summoned by the Manager three weeks later and asked for another impromptu examination on the day he resumed at the office. His scores were higher than the first performance and he was thus employed as Senior Clerk, rather than as a Clerk like his contemporaries. After his sojourn with Bank of the North, Victor Adewusi joined the now defunct Premier Commercial Bank in 1987 as an Operations Officer and was there till 1998. He later joined Late Olanbiwonninu Balogun’s private Outfit, The Modulor Group in Oregun, Ikeja, between 1999-2001 as Chief Accountant. In 2002, he teamed up with Honourable Niyi Fabikun, then Chairman, Appropriations Committee, Lagos House of Assembly, as Managing Partner in his Auditing Firm. That collaboration endured after he set up his own outfit – Lord-Guide Consults – and till his demise. His life story will not be complete without mentioning the great roles played in his life by his Mentor, Daddy B.K. Adewusi, his wife Captain Mother Adewusi, and Late Daddy C.A. Odusanya. He would tell everyone that he had three fathers namely: Kabiyesi, Daddy B.K. Adewusi; and Elder C. A. Odusanya. The three of them, including Captain Mother Adewusi nurtured him greatly in the Lord. They showed him raw love and affection to the extent that he never knew that he was not living with his Biological Parents. They taught him how to be disciplined, humble, caring, respectful, neat, decent and God fearing at all times. He was a Member of The Chartered Institute of Management; A Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and A Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

MARITAL AND FAMILY LIFESuperintendent General Apostle (Dr) V. A. Adewusi met his wife on the same day he got promoted as Supervisor on the 2nd of January, 1978. He was at his desk  close to the bank’s Customers’ Counter. As soon as she entered the Banking Hall, God whispered into his ears that “Iyawo e n’iyen o” (that is your wife!). And because the gift of hearing is his best Spiritual Talent, he didn’t doubt what he heard but went straight to tell her that “eyin ni iyawo mi o” (you are my wife!). She was stunned and retorted: “Se bi won se n toast obirin l’odo t’iyin niyen ni”? (is that your best pick-up line?). To the glory of Almighty God, they got married on the 4th of November, 1979 and the union is blessed with many children and grandchildren. He loved his wife and children so dearly and his impact as a role model to his children was exemplary. Despite his busy schedule, he always made time to visit his children and grandchildren wherever they were in all corners of the world. He was a class act in juggling family, business and religious responsibilities.
SERVICE IN GOD’S VINEYARDPerhaps, nowhere is his impact more visible and evident than the passion with which he approached his service in the vineyard of God. Under the tutelage of his uncle and adopted father, Late Special Apostle B.K. Adewusi, Superintendent General Apostle V.A. Adewusi started to serve God early. His father was strict about church attendance and spiritual activities such as fasting and praying. It was not long before it was evident that young Adekunle possessed impressive spiritual gifts. He continued his service in the church and for several decades was the Church secretary of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Oke Ibukun (Branco). Elder Aduragbemi, as he was fondly and popularly called, was given that name by a very powerful Prophetess who went into trance on the 16th of August 1984. He is widely travelled and has both local and international training, both in his spiritual and professional calling. He became the Elder–in-Charge of his church, Oke-Ibukun (Branco) in 2002. Under his spiritual and management, the church broke new boundaries by establishing satellite branches in Ikorodu and Arigbajo. He instituted controls and processes in managing church affairs and generally brought his professional training to bear in the management of the church.  He loved his church members and had a special relationship with every one of them. He always looked out for a way to support his members spiritually – through prayers and fasting; financially – by providing loans and grants to members and youths; and physically – by just being there to listen to them and provide words of encouragement. He did not joke with the welfare of his church members.A very strong prayerist who served God passionately, he repeatedly told his congregation and listeners, both home and abroad, that “serving God is serious business’’. He was a very humble servant of the Most High God. He was especially fond of the youths and loved anyone that had a heart and time for Jesus because he often said “A o kuku ni ona miran ju Jesu wa yi na a lo!” (We do not have another path except through Christ Jesus!). In recognition of his ardent gifts as a Prophet of the Almighty God, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the JASFEM Bible College in 2007.A great disciplinarian, people knew him to enforce uprightness and moral probity without any compromise. He openly believed in cleanliness and neatness and hated a dirty environment. He preferred to be simply called an “Apostle” even though he was ordained, in recognition of his tireless work for God, a Superintendent General Apostle of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim & Seraphim in 2012.Elder Aduragbemi was a good listener; even though he often said that he was a careful listener. He loved children a lot and encouraged people to improve themselves, generally. He believed so much in people striving to have a great impact in this life ‘’since we may not come back again except, maybe through reincarnation!” Until his passing, he was a Patron of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Lagos Island Chapter, a Patron of Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), the Chairman of The Finance and Budget Committee of The Eternal Sacred Order of The Cherubim & Seraphim (Mount Zion Conference) and Chairman, Lagos Territorial Conference of The Eternal Sacred Order of The Cherubim & Seraphim (Mount Zion Conference). He received many awards in recognition of his dedication and services to humanity as a whole.Superintendent General Apostle (Dr) V. A. Adewusi authored five books which includes: The Secrets of Happy Parenting; How to Control your Anger; Praises, Appreciation, and Thanksgiving; Mine Shall Be Possible; and Don’t Despair, Fear Not, Cheer up. As far as hobbies are concerned, he loved playing Table Tennis and trekking long distances. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and lending a helping hand in any way he could.
