C&S 2019 Annual General Conference takes flight in Lagos

The Annual General Conference of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification of Nigeria was heralded with pomp as the opening ceremony held Thursday at Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac Town, Lagos state.


It would be recalled that the week-long event commenced on Monday with a press conference where the supreme head, His Most Eminence Prophet Dr. Solomon Adegboyega Alao (JP) addressed journalists on the developments in the fold and the state of the nation.


This was followed by visitations to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos state on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.


The main event which is expected to run through Thursday 31st till Sunday 3rd witnessed the assemblage of Seraphs drawn from the across the country and the diaspora. 


This comprises leaders of constituent churches, members of the National Executive Council and that of the Ecclesiastical council, Leaders of state chapters, representatives of the youth fellowship and a host of seraph contingents.

Topping the list of dignitaries in attendance was the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode ably represented by his Special Adviser on Chriatian Religious matters, Reverend David Verrals. Others include a former Commissioner for Commerce in Ogun state, Mr. Gbenga Ashiru and Asiwaju Tobi Lawal, a former Executive Director of Fidelity Bank.
Leading the pack of monarchs was the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi.


In his opening speech, the supreme head otherwise referred to as “Baba Olori” described the 2019 conference as an epoch making just as he appreciated God for being alive to witness the auspicious occasion this year.


He also urged delegates and observers present at the conference to re-enact those attributes that made past conferences successful. “I implore you to go beyond the church matters and also bring to the discussion table, some of the challenges facing the country with a view to proffering solutions to them.” He added.


He, however, commended the efforts and contributions of Seraphs to the growth of the fold and those he described as Ambassador plenipotentiary of white garment churches which are the trio of Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi, General Superintendent Yomi Sholoye and Supt, Ap. Mother Bose Oshinowo, just as he included Special Apostle Taiwo Akinsola.


He disclosed that the Olori-in-Council, will embark on three key areas that are germane for the church; viz: Evangelism, Publicity and Episcopal tour.


On the theme of the programme “Pulling Down The Barriers” he declared that this is the period for continuous over-hauling of processes and total re-engineering within the church to Pull down the barriers.
On her part, the host, Her Eminence (Dr.) Prophetess Marian Adeleye Akinjogunla (JP) stated that the things that bind us are much than what separates us.


This was as she charged all Seraphs in a wake up call on MOU, Ecumenical center, on Seraphim Land and Ikare Pilgrimage programme.
According to her, the Ecumenical center on Seraphim Land remains the fulcrum of our collective existence and the building committee must be given full support to continue doing their best.


The event soon afterwards featured presentation of theme paper by Deputy Supt of Faith Mission C&S church, Dr Yomi Sholoye. The paper titled: “Pull Down The Barrier” explicitly reflects on some barriers that have afflicted the C&S fold over time. While identifying them, she also proffered array of solutions that will pave a way having had the barriers pulled down.


A book was also launched in honour of  Her Eminence (Dr.) Prophetess Marian Adeleye Akinjogunla (JP) with Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi of the Love of Christ Generation church being the Chief Launcher.


The opening ceremony which rounded up with variety night elicited positive comments from dignitaries present, just as they expressed surprises at the ambience of the conference venue as such as the dimension which the event took.
