Rising gospel artiste, Oluwatobi Kufeji, has embarked on the longest singing marathon aimed at setting a new Guinness World Record.
The singing marathon tagged, “Praiseworship-a-thon” kicked off in Lagos on July 5 and is expected to end by July 13.
Kufeji who is otherwise known as Àlejò Pàtàkì seeks to surpass the previous record of 105 hours set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare in 2012. Meanwhile, he has gone past 110 hours as of the time this report was filed.
Young Nigerians have attempted a series of marathon feats since Hilda Baci achieved a new record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
In an exclusive chat with ACTS OF SERAPHS a few hours before the praise marathon started, Kufeji said he was led by God on his part.
“The Lord has been preparing for a long time for this purpose. He instructed me to embark on it for his glory and He wants to use the foolish things of the world to confound the wise”, he disclosed.
Speaking on his background as a member of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, the graduate of Economics said, “I was born and bred in CSMC Ayo Ni o but about five years ago, the Lord instructed me to join RCCG for an assignment. I’m still proud to be associated with C & S.”
A document sighted by this platform indicated that Kufeji’s application to embark on the singing marathon was approved by GWR on June 7.
He however revealed his plan to also beat the record of the longest concert by a solo artist for 501 hours currently held by Kuzhalmannam Ramakrishnan (Indian) once he completes his ongoing attempt.
Kufeji who is based in the United Kingdom flew into Nigeria purposely for the marathon praise.
