Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Thursday said the continual existence and growth of the Cherubim and Seraphim church in the Christendom is a function of its resilience over the years.
He made the appraisal at opening ceremony of the Annual General Conference of the church which is ongoing at the Sacred C&S General Headquarters Secretariat, Orita Bashorun, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde who expressed delight for being considered to grace the occasion said the gathering shows how God has blessed the church.
His words: “I want to thank you for inviting me to this Annual General Conference. I understand this is the 80th year of this conference. So to have held a conference of this magnitude consistently for 80 years speaks much about the resilience of the Cherubim and Seraphim church.”
“This year’s Annual General Conference is a testament of how God blesses his people and how he continues to bless them with growth.”
The governor also claimed to have had a knowledge of the previous edition which held in Lagos and how much it made waves.
This was as he declared that the resolve of the fold to hold the conference in Oyo state would create a benchmark of how future conferences would look like.
“Last year you made waves in Lagos but this year, you are in the pace setter’s state. So by the virtue of the fact that this conference hold in Oyo state, I believe it will create a benchmark of how future conferences would look like. Not just in terms of attendance but in terms of miracles that will manifest while the conference is going on. The bible says if two or three are are gathered, he is right there with them, so if God could be with two or three, how much the multitude of people that are here. So, God is definitely with us.”
Makinde also said religion has played a vital role in the state especially on his administration.
While speaking particularly about the crisis rocking the local government chairmanship positions in Oyo state with indications that it might lead to chaos and the declaration of a state of emergency, Makinde said prayers was the only reason he needed not to worry.
He, therefore, wished the delegates fruitful deliberations and conversations that will move this church forward adding that “by your presence and faithful act, you will draw more people to examine ways in which that they can draw closer to God.
