A fusion of ideas and efforts from both the elders and the youths is needed to move the Cherubim and Seraphim church forward, the Minister in Charge of St. Emmanuel C&S church – Special Apostle Prophet J. A Taiwo has said.
The cleric made the submission against the backdrop of seeming misunderstanding between some youths and their church elders. He said both parties cannot function independent of each other as far as kingdom assignment in the church is concerned.
There are instances where some elders reportedly whittle down the influence of their youths whose ideas of keeping the church on a progressive path appear alien to them. Taiwo, however, said action of such nature has affected the growth of some churches.
In retrospect, Taiwo said the opportunity his dad gave him to handle some affairs in the church when he craved it was the reason why he is still a member of the fold.
When my dad was alive, he handed over to me. I told him “Dad, things are changing. The way we preach has changed. The way we sing and so on. And he said ok, if that is what you think is in vogue; let us see you at work. So if had not given me that opportunity, maybe I would have been in a Pentecostal church today.
On the part of the youths, Taiwo frowned at cases where they disrespectfully challenge the position of the elders on issues pertaining to the church. He said if at all the youths feel something must be adjusted, it should be done pleasantly as there are pleasant way of addressing unpleasant issues. He said so much that their role cannot be overemphasized; under no circumstances should a youth arrogantly confront the elders on any matter.
Taiwo who is known for his generosity towards the youths said, “It always been part and parcel of me.” if there is way I can contribute to whatever I can in their lives, why shouldn’t I? He asked.
Speaking on how the ministry has fared for him, he said it comes with dose of ups and down. He also said “most time you believe you add one plus one to get two, but at the long run you add one plus one to get one.” According to him, some people believe is mathematical thing when it comes to reading activities. But I don’t think it so, because when you kneel down and pray at times you get instant reply and at times you have to wait, but flesh might not want you to wait .
So that is why I can’t really tell you that it not rough but to God be the glory, If the calling is there you will always have the grace to say thank you Jesus.
