Anchor bible Ref: Ecclesiastes 10:7 ‘’I have seen slaves on the horses and princes walking on bare foot like slaves”.
This is the bible verse that provoked the question in my heart ‘why do men carry great potentials and die with little or no impact on their world?’
Why do great men die little? Apparently, excuses seem little but they are giant killers. They have caused many princes to walk through life like ordinary slaves while slaves that have gone all out for success and greatness are riding through life like Princes!
Many times at programmes I ask youths and parents alike the question – who wants to be great? Build houses in Ikoyi, Ikeja, VGC, Banana Island and so on and I see many smiling faces with hands up in the air, with many claiming it , then, we all shout Halleluyah!
Yes! We all want to be great and really we have been so highly and plentifully endowed by our creator, such that whoever comes across us testifies of same.
Also, we all know that these things won’t just happen, success is not by accident, we have deliverables, yes! Our part of the bargain must be met. However, most of us have decided to play our part sometime!
You remember Moses and the burning bush in Exodus 3:3 God was in the burning bush, his part was in Exodus 3:3 ‘’and Moses said ‘’I will turn aside and see this great sight..’’ this is his part of the bargain – if he had not turned aside to see God, the story would have been different, vs 4 established this, ‘’ And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush..You see the God of the entire universe is UNSTOPPABLE! Yes! But listen, He is, the only person that can stop God is YOU and your excuses! Revelations 3:20 ‘’Behold I stand at the door and knock..if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him.. that’s it! We must meet our part of the bargain! And what has been making this impossible is our EXCUSES! Don’t intend to do your part SOMETIME, do it NOW!
No wonder Shakespeare said ‘’if to know were as easy as to do, many chapels would have been synagogues and cottages, Mansions” Most know, few actually do, that is the difference between The Suceesfuls and the Failures – they knew, but could not do!
We really want to be great, but before we get started, we decide to take a little vacation to the wonderful fantasy place called SOMEDAY ISLE. We say someday, I will read that book, someday I will listen to that powerful message, someday, I will write that online examination, someday, I will attend that seminar, someday I will stop drinking and smoking, someday I will stop that unholy relationship..
Someday, I will do all I need to do to be great! 80% of us on this someday Island think, dream and fantasize about the things we will do someday.
Do you also know that the main topic of our discussion on the island is EXCUSES! We sit around and swap excuses for being on the ISLAND. THE ISLAND OF SOMEDAY!
God does not condone excuses, Moses gave his, He crushed it! King Saul gave his, He ignored it!
Get above those excuses today and erase someday off your life dictionary. Take that bold step! Don’t allow your background, put your back to the ground. Very few had it easy at the beginning, but still they have made success out of nothing. You are next to break free and breakthrough in Jesus name. Amen!
Listen! Your world is waiting! Romans 8:19 ‘’for the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God” stop making excuses, stop stopping God! The road to success isn’t easy and that’s why it is not busy, but the end of the road is so sweet! Everybody will come to congratulate you there! Even those who made jest of you while trudging on…
