Gravity

Ayomide Adewale

When we got to the gates of Golgotha–
We fell, deleting the scenes of our sins,
and floating in his blood.

When we stood at Gethsemane,
Taking off the name “human”–
We became immortal.
Yet, like the fallen angels,
We fell.

The gravity of our sins
Keep pushing us away.
The gravity of our flesh keep
counting the number of times we rose.
Forgetting he rose on the third day
So, we could be victorious.

And whether we are Angelina
Or we are Melanie.
He wants us to keep standing
Not counting our flaws.
For He would raise us again.

And just like the space ship,
We would float.
