Seraph Adesuyi Obateru
The youths of Holy Cross Church of Cherubim and Seraphim, Nigeria gathered in the second largest city in Africa, Ibadan, Oyo State Capital for its annual national youth convention. The programme which featured events such as seraphic worship, high praise, Prayer, career talk, bible studies and thanksgiving was an historic one.
The 11th annual convention tagged Holiness 2019, held at Oke-Bola Comprehensive High School, Oke- Ado, Ibadan, had the theme: Thy Kingdom Come, extracted from Matthew Chapter 6 verse 10a. The four days programme commenced on Wednesday, 31st July 2019 at 2:00pm with registration of participants from all the seven Area Conferences cutting across Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Osun and Lagos States. The Opening Service featured hymns, songs and welcome address by the Youth Coordinator, Bro. Taye Akinkoye and Host (Ibadan) Area Conference Supervisor, Special Apostle E. O. Arowosomo.
The second day, 1st August was remarkable with the first lecture by the renowned Prophet of God, Abraham Adebayo from Erinle, Kwara State on the topic Understanding the Kingdom Lifestyles. The man of God implored youths to embrace holiness as a lifestyle of the kingdom of God which should dwell in man.
The third day featured a marriage seminar for both the singles and the married. The single section centered on the topic: Singles without Wrinkles (Preparing for Marriage), and the married were taken though the topic “Avoiding divorce in marriage.” No one else was for fit for the job except Pastor (Mrs) Oloruntola, a spirit-filled woman of God with quality experience of what both the singles and married couples need to triumph in their relationship as ordained by God. The children were not left out in the section, as an adage will say, child is father of man, they were taught on maintaining purity as kingdom children.
Pastor Segun Michael (PSM) handled the third day lecture with the central focus on “Expanding Christ’s kingdom (Soul winning).” The man of God succinctly highlighted that showing love to others, using your personal life as example, prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit are strategies for genuine soul winning.
In his sermon, the General Secretary of the Mission, Supt. Ap. Taye Akinkoye admonished the congregation to allow the kingdom of God dwell in them, always putting up character worthy of a true child of the kingdom of God and forsake the devil and his deeds.
The 2019 annual convention gave birth to the emergence of new executives with Brother Gbemiga Ogunleye being the President, Brother Adesuyi Obateru, Vice-president and the secretary, Brother Oladotun Kejawa. The former executives headed by the National President Brother Collins Ademakinwa and General Secretary; Brother Adesuyi Obateru handed over to new ones with a great joy.
The convention was brought to a close with thanksgiving service. The conference has in attendance the Ibadan Area Conference Supervisor, Special Apostle Arowosomo, Senior Supt. Apostle T.A. Idowu, Supt. Apostle S.O. Moses and other ministers of God.
