Oke Igboho: Ona Iwa Mimo opens up on 2020 pilgrimage

….May adopt Agelu’s concept

The leadership of Cherubim and Seraphim church, Ona Iwa Mimo, headquartered in Igboho, Oyo State, Nigeria, has opened up on developments relating to its annual pilgrimage.

The pilgrimage, popularly known as “Ori Oke Igboho” holds every 27th of October.

But a final decision is yet to be made on whether this year’s edition will hold or not, Special Apostle Z. F. Olabintan told Acts of Seraphs upon enquiry on Monday.

According to him, this year’s anniversary has been largely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, adding that the gradual easing of the lockdown was also a reason for the stalemate.

“We are still studying the direction of the government concerning the coronavirus pandemic. And you will agree with me that we would have embarked on publicity if not for the current situation,” he said.

Although, the Oyo state government has lifted curfew in the state, the federal government’s ban on religious gathering of such magnitude is still in effect.

Elder Olabintan who is a member of the Ecclesiastical Council of C&S Unification Church of Nigeria, also disclosed that the top elders of the church have been unable to convene a meeting in the last few months after several attempts. He, however, noted that a meeting has been scheduled to hold soon, where they seek to make their final resolve.

Asked if a committee has been constituted for this year’s event, pending the time a final decision would be made, elder Olabintan said there was no committee yet, except a subsisting one in charge of last year’s pilgrimage.

He, therefore, revealed that Ona Iwa Mimo may likely adopt the concept of Agbojesu Conference on how they conducted this year’s Agelu pilgrimage which held in July.

Agbojesu conference held a low key pilgrimage this year, while restricting attendees to an online broadcast of the programme.
