INTERVIEW: C&S Gospel Revival Songs Need More Promotions – Akorin Eri Selika

Vanessa Adekola, otherwise known as Akorin Eri Selika, is a foremost gospel artiste of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church who has created a brand of her own in the sphere of gospel revival genre of music. She is also known to have given gospel revival song a deserving prominence in Europe where she is based. Recently, she released a music video of her forthcoming album titled – “Imole Mi”. The video had so far gained traction since it dropped on the internet. In this interview with Acts of Seraphs, she speaks on her album, as well as her foray into gospel music.

(Q) What inspired the title of your new album – “Imole mi”?

(Ans) Genesis 1 vs 3. I strongly believe that once any individual on earth has the light of God Upon and in them, the light will direct your journey in life to make it easier and smoother. Also every track in my album speaks about the light (Imole) of God in different dimensions

(Q) Is there more to the album that we need to know?

(Ans) Imole mi (the album) is a very spiritual, powerfull and prayerfull song that i believe will bless everybody that listens to it in one way or another

(Q) When is it likely to be released?

(Ans) Soon after the issues surrounding the coronavirus disease subside

(Q) What prompted your choice of Arojah in the album?

(Ans) The Holy Spirit plus he’s one of the best Isoji Ariya (Revival) singer we have in the industry.

(Q) C&S gospel revival song is known to be your genre of music, why is it so?

(Ans) Isoji Ariya (Revival ) Song is my calling from God

(Q) How did you come about the sobriquet – Selika?

(Ans) Selika was given to me by the Holy Spirit

(Q) Since when have you been doing music, and when did you start out professionally?

(Ans) Wow! I’ve been doing music from a very young age, Professionally I’ll say 4 years ago.

(Q) You have given C&S gospel revival a deserving prominence in Europe, how have you been able to achieve this feat?

(Ans) It’s by the grace of God , all glory to his name for making it possible as i have no power of my own.

(Q) How can you rate the level of acceptance of C&S gospel revival on the foreign soil?

(Ans) It’s being accepted well and by God’s grace i believe its still going to take over

(Q) In what way has music imparted on your life?

(Ans) Music has always been in me. It has a positive impact in my life generally. There is something about Isoji Ariya (Revival) songs that i can’t explain.

(Q) In what way have you used it to bless people’s lives as well?

(Ans) By putting Inspiration, Spiritual and Prayerful songs out there continuously

Q. Any unforgettable experience since you started music?

Ans. I’ve got few actually, the let downs and disappointment are what make up experience on its own. Leading praise songs in front of Michelle Williams (destiny child) is another one. Hmmm… shooting my music video in Nigeria is another one.

Q. Do you have a role model in this particular line of your music and in C&S church in general?

Ans. Oh yes , too many , both young and old

Q. What can you say about the evolution of C&S Gospel revival songs over the years?

Ans. Isoji Ariya (Revival ) i know it will get stronger, better and even modern as the years go by but ISOJI is here to stay

Q. What areas do you think there is need for improvement?

Ans. We all need to promote and support Isoji Ariya (Revival) songs more

Q. In what ways do you think it has contributed to spreading the gospel of Christ?

Ans. It has helped to give hope , to give strength , to renew the right spirit and perform miracles

Q. Where do you see yourself in a couple of years to come?

Ans. By God’s grace at the top still proclaiming the goodness of God, putting a smile on people’s faces and preaching the word of God through Isoji , Ariya (Revival) Songs

Q. Your advice for upcoming gospel revival artiste in the fold?

Ans. I am upcoming myself oooo (Smiles). Well i’ll say be humble , Pray and don’t loose focus on the genre of music you’ve been called too.
