Going down biblical records, Asaph was a Levite and one of the leaders of David’s choir and he is known for being skilled in music, and also a seer ( 2 Chronicles 29:30), he likewise wrote notable numbers of Psalms. According to research, “Sons of Asaph,”mentioned in 2Chronicles 20:14 , and Ezra 2:41 , were his descendants, or more probably a class of poets or singers who recognized him as their master.
One of such ‘descendants’ is Seraph Bello Michael, the Seraph with the voice, vision and calling of an Asaph. According to him, he got the name, Asaph, which is also his stage name through divine revelation. “A day at school, university days while I was meditating, I heard the name and I made research of it, digging into the Bible, I discovered the name and purpose of the person and related it to what I was meditating on and that was how it stated”, stated Seraph Bello.
Being an Asaph, music a first nature to Seraph Michael, and he is making good use of the gift as the faithful servant in the Bible. He ministers at churches with the sole aim of of touching people’s life and bringing them closer to the Creator.
He is an active member of the Lagos state mass choir, unification, he has served as a music director alongside the choir master of Lagod/Ogun Zone mass choir and was a one-time Assistant Choir Master at Unification Campus Fellowship, Unilag Chapter 2009/2011. He has a band that ministers with him, the “Asaphzarma” band and as a means of using his life to influence people positively, has been able to groom people directly and indirectly in the art of music.
Aside singing, Seraph Michael is also and instrumentalist and has released an album. He is friends with music veterans, the likes of Yinka Davies, Omolara, Emmanuel Alani, Imisi, Akinoluyemi Yemi, Inumidun, and the acclaimed father of music, Bro Dare Fashola.He has ministered at events like Mega Praise and other host of events, he has also ministered with people like Shina harmony and the likes.
Relating with other denominations, Seraph Michael said our attitudes will speak better and create an enabling atmosphere for us with people, even without them knowing our denomination. “I tell you, you will always see the difference in people, and that’s when they ask you questions on the church do you attend, when you tell its C&S, then you will hear Abájọ (for good) and they will keep respecting you and make you untouchable”, answered Seraph Michael.
On discrimination, the Seraph born Asaph affirmed there’s no way Seraphs would not be discriminated against, but we would have to win people over with our attitudes and composure in Christ. “What I will advice as a seraph is we should make ourselves good examples to other denominations as Christ ambassadors and preach christ through us… If they see that in us, there will not be any discrimination on any part”, asserted Seraph Michael.
The lover of blue colour worships at The Holy Order of C&S movement church, Puposola, Oko Oba, and obviously the thing he loves most about C&S is our hymns. His favourite hymn is Hymn 117; Ewole f’ọba Ologo julo, his favourite Bible verse is Psalms 16 VS 8, while his most memorable time is in God’s presence.
He commented on the changes happening in the fold and believes with the love of Christ and help of the Holy Spirit, the fold will become great and as one again even than the days of the babas.
He advised the fold to be one “even as our fathers have not seen it to make C&S one, we the youth should make things better and realize that we are the light of the world and we have to make our home a better place”. Focus on Christ Jesus and make his word light unto their part.. The word will teach all we need to know.
The January born Seraph hails from Ogun State, Odeda precisely, and studied Mathematics Education at Unilag.
Aside being an Asaph, Seraph Michael also has the entrepreneurship spirit. Though he is a civil servant in Lagos state, he also customise clothes and likewise design garments. His business handle is “ASAPHdesigns” which involves making of garment and customising it,
As Seraph Michael does not spare a keyboard nor a microphone, so does he not spare his favourite meal; Amala with Gbegiri/Ewedu with assorted meats. He should have hailed from Oyo state. His turn on are singing, composing songs, playing keyboard, traveling and being happy while he detest lying.
