“There was a time my daddy told me he would burn all my garments. But to God be the glory, he followed me to church on the day of my ordination. My siblings also came with me.…” Seraph Modupe Adepoju Adeneye
Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ during his sojourn on earth stated that there is no one that leaves home, parents or brethren for the sake of the kingdom of God that would not receive in manifold in this world and the world to come. One of such that has forsaken things of the world in pursuit of that of the kingdom and purposeful living is Seraph Modupe Adepoju Adeneye.
Seraph Modupe, also known as Dupsy is the only white garment member among her Baptist family and as the expected custom, the sail wasn’t an easy one. “To be sincere am the only white garment person in my family. I’ve received insults from my dad, his siblings and from my siblings as well. There was a time daddy told me he would burn all my garments. But to God be the glory, he followed me to my church on my ordination day. My siblings also came with me.
They now called me “Iya Kerubu”, but it didn’t affect my faith and what God has for me”, stated Seraph Modupe.
It is worthy of note she has been in the fold for a decade and has never regretted being a member inspite the criticism, and she has been a profitable vessel in the vineyard. “When I joined I was a total stranger, but I received the Holy Spirit on my baptism day and since then God has being using me. I was born in a baptist home, but one aunt invited me and I’ve not regretted it. I joined the church 2009”, revealed Seraph Modupe.
One notable feature about Seraph Modupe is that she is a determined Seraph that isn’t easily swayed by criticisms regardless of the perceived notion about the fold. She dons her garments wherever the occasion calls for it and more; she even wore it in her field of work! “The day I wore my garments to a make-up studio not minding what people will say. When I got there, I forgot I had to remove my garments because it was a friend’s wedding and I needed to make up. I can do more with my garments as it is my last clothe on earth and I can wear it anytime, anyway to any place”, she disclosed.
She opines that members of the fold should not for any reason let go of her doctrines and values, noting that other denominations that criticize us because of our values do secretly take counsel from our prophets in moments of needs. “Most churches have snatched our doctrine away from us. The day I saw an amen amen church (name withheld) using oil for prayer I was surprised. We should not let go of the things keeping us, and we allow them say sad things about us. Do u know how many pastors out who have Woli as there baba isale? As for eto, most churches don’t do eto anymore. Like my church, our only eto is Candle, Oil and water”, emphasized Seraph Modupe.
She is a diligent member of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Chapel of Fulfilment Okota branch, Yaba District Lagos state. She is a member of the choir as well as an interpreter in the church. She is also an ordained Senior Lady Leader. According to her, aside being spirit filled, one of the things she cherishes about the fold is the way our songs and this encouraged her to be a member of the choir with the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
Giving her piece of advice to the elders, she encourages them to be youth-conscious and driven. She pointed out that the youth are the future of the fold and as such should be engaged in activities that would help groom them. “The youth in the C&S today are ready to work for Christ if our leaders will allow us do our things. We need to go out of the old school way, am not saying we should forget our foundation, No! We know how Baba Mose Orimolade started it, all the youths need is chance to work for God it should not be the babas alone. With this in place, the future C&S is superb. Our elders should allow the youth of our time participate more because we are tomorrow’s seraph leaders”, pointed out Seraph Modupe.
