“Recently, in my area in Ikorodu, we have a little road challenge. I took some picture with my phone, edited it and tagged the present Governor of Lagos state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. A friend of mine later called me that the picture went far that the governor has given order to get the road done. I was so happy, excited and fulfilled”…..Seraph Mayowa
The scriptures in Psalms 19vs 1 says the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows his handiwork. But do you know its not only nature created by God such as man, animals, firmament and heavens that declare glory to God? Man-made items also give glory to God when the owner’s heart is right with God.
From our first publication, we have featured quite a number of Seraphs across career line. This ranges from fashion icons to pastors and gospel musicians just to mention but few, but we haven’t done a photographer, a photographer with a passion for humanity at that!
As microphone is to the preacher, pen to a journalist and hoe to a farmer; so is a camera, either on a tripod or on a mobile phone to Seraph Oluwamayowa Jacob Samuel.
Seraph Mayowa Samuel, popularly called “Mayor” is a photographer with a unique way of life. All he ever desire and does is to express himself through a click of the camera. To him, with each shot he takes, he focuses on providing solutions to his generation and also winning souls unto Christ.
“My dreams and aspiration is to be a solution to my generation as a photographer. God has been my shepherd right from day one according to my best bible verse. Due to this i have been a good leader by winning souls to the kingdom of God. Through my images as a photographer in C&S, lives have been transformed and I will continue to do it”.
Photography has connected him with people and events here in the country and outside of the country. He was at the “Grace and Truth” program that was graced by Mother Esther Ajayi,
“I was there at Grace and Truth, I was sponsored to the program throughout Prophet Gabriel Gandonu. It was a good and memorable program. I took some couple of shots, I never knew those shots would go far. Someone actually appreciate the image, I saw the brother at Seraphim land, Maba when we went for Media Summit. And I also got commendations from Pastor Adedokun A. Elikanah and Mama Toyin Dabiri”.
He has worked with the host of the popular TV program, “Sinimami”; also as one of the Behind The Scene (BTS) directors in movies titled “Odutela” by titijejefilms, and “Iponju Olododo”. He has also used his camera to minister at Praise Concert in Ogbomosho. He likewise worked with the likes of D.J. kwise, rozytv and has taken shots for different birthdays, weddings and naming ceremonies.
He’ll also grace the upcoming programme, “Celebrating the Comforter” that will hold in Lagos state.
As the passion for the graphic-world is not only paving ways for him, it is likewise seeing to the betterment of people, of a community in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Agric Asolo Isawo. According to him, out of his passion to express himself through the camera, he took a shot of a bad road in his community which got the attention of the present governor of Lagos state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
I was so happy, excited and fulfilled”, stated Seraph Mayowa.
Aside this, through his camera, he has put smiles on the face of people by taking shots of meat sellers, market men and women. According to him, “I find pleasure in doing it because it’s nature and we have to appreciate what we have. Some people don’t have time to do all these things but I just want to stand out in the field of photography in doing what others did not do”.
One of the things Seraph Mayowa cherishes in the fold is because we have the Spirit of truth in our worship and services, noting that he can’t leave the fold for anything.
“I remember back in those days that ‘ariya’, claps, speaking in tongues and revival are done, it’s a spirit- filled action and our hymns. I can’t just leave the fold to go to other place. I don’t know how to blend up, I can’t. I’ve attended several churches, Baptist church, Redeemed, CAC, the Apostolic Church, but none can be compared to ours, ‘ajo o le dabi ile’. Seraph forever and ever, we are peculiar, our uniformity is very good, I love our colour, God bless Seraph”.
He recounted that he had lost opportunity to have a free admission and prospective girlfriend for being a Seraph, which he does not regret loosing.
“Something actually happened when I was in Ogbomosho, my possible girlfriend then, she attended Christ Embassy then and asked me to change from white garment to Christ Embassy. That if i could do that, then, all my admission and whatever I need would be given me free of charge. I told her instantly I can’t leave my fold, I love C&S and this is where I’m going to stay till I die. And in this fold I’ll get married and be successful”.
Noting that there is a great transition in the fold, he applauds the youths for making use of every opportunity to bring the fold in the limelight.
“The effect about then is the youth in time past did not have the privilege to do handle things pertaining to the evangelism but are now the frontiers, even in areas like drama and media sections. And the power as of old is still there, we still have a quite number of great men of God in the fold that are still manifesting. And I know those that have run away will soon come back. Amen.
We are taking over the nations in the next three year from now, C&S will be among the presidential candidate not just only the candidate we are taking the seat and house of assembly Amen and Amen”.
He however implored members of the fold to work more on some of our doctrines and embrace more of the word of God stating that this is one of the reasons youths leave the fold and seek solace in other denominations,
“Most of our youth are going to other churches like Redeemed, Winners, because of these things. Because the spirit and the zeal they bring from their respective unification campuses are not met in their mother church, so they’ll have to go elsewhere. I’m not discriminating that those practising it are wrong. I know God and the Holy Spirit will take us there and open our eyes in general”.
Aside being a media personnel, the graduate of the Department of Cargo Handling at International School of Aviation is also into fashion designing and has a media team assisting him. He worships at Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, New Covenant Model Parish, Ikorodu where he is a member of the media department and a former youth financial Secretary.
His favorite Hymn/Bible verse is Hymn 824, “Jeka layo ninu Jesu” and Psalm 23, because it gives him comfort. His most memorable event was the day PENNER PAUL FOUNDATION gave him an award of excellence as a media supporter for the foundation, while his favourite colour his best color is blue.
He has the throng of his Dad, Most Spt Apt Samuel Arikerusola, Pastor Mike Adeniyi Ajayi, Pastor Thomas Adekunle Fakille, Prophet Gabriel Gandonu, Pastor Ezekiel Adebamiwi, Pastor Yemi Julius Koleoso and Prophet Tosin Bankole as role models.
