There is no gainsaying the fact that a considerable number of schools are named after the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
Prominent among them is C&S College which is located at Sabo Oke area of Ilorin, Kwara State. The college was established in 1969 as a Christian mission grant-aided school.
Although, it was later changed to government-aided school by one of the military administrators in 1976, it remains a mission school that runs independently but only aided by the government.
Seraph Ranti Akinyebi went sightseeing around the learning facility recently and she has this to say….
“C & S College had existed for decades, but it currently prides in new and modern structures that sit on a large piece of land. It also houses a lodge for Seraph corps members in Ilorin, a Church (C&S Movement church, Number 6, Ilorin), and some residential flats for pastors and ministers.
“The college is government-approved and operates primary and secondary schools. Although, it used to be a full boarding, it now runs a day school. However, the structures of a boarding school can still be seen in the college. These include their old and dilapidated dinner hall (which is no longer in use) the school hall, the hostels and many more.
“The school also has two gates leading into its premises. Upon entering the first gate, there’s this big statue of a Seraph in white garment and red girdle, more like welcoming you into the reality of the school. That, for me, was so spiritual and attractive.
“I also gathered that the school has reduced in population over the years, but it’s still one of the most populated schools in Ilorin. Also, when the school was operating as a full boarding school, 90% of her students were Seraphs from across the country.
“Right now, the church (which is a proper main church not student or youth chapel) is being pastored by an alumnus of the school and the congregation come from different places in Ilorin to worship.”
