New Seraph clarifies stance on honouring Adepoju

…invites Mrs Adepoju for service of songs

The New Seraph has clarified why it scheduled September 1 to hold service of songs for the late Elder Elijah Adepoju.

The clarification came on the heels of a publication by Acts of Seraphs which indicated that JASFEM; a Bible School founded by the deceased had also fixed same date and time.

Recall that the chairman of the central burial planning committee, Most Snr Apostle Yemi Adewusi has called for harmonisation of date among various bodies who sought to honour the late elder.

Also, the New Seraph had on Tuesday extended invitation to the wife of the deceased, Mrs Adepoju to attend the service of songs slated for September 1.

Family source said Mrs Adepoju is the Registrar of JASFEM, that organises same program at Adopoju’s residence.

But the New Seraph in a release on Tuesday noted that the decision to fix the specified date was not in anyway pointing at disharmony.

Citing reasons for what appeared a clash in the dates fixed, the New Seraph says it shows proof that the deceased is well loved by all, thus describing it a welcome development.

Part of the statement reads: “It may interest you to know that Bishop Adepoju while alive belonged to different church groups, so it behoves on each group to organise programmes to honour him in their own way.

“It is of note that each group has its own peculiarities, mode of services and target audience – the more the merrier.

“The Service of Songs powered by The New Seraph is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 1st September, 2020 starting from 4.00PM.

“Mind you, we are not ignorant of a report flying around about JASFEM also holding a service of songs same day, same time.

“This is a welcome idea, showing more proofs that the Deceased is well loved by all. JASFEM Students and Alumni deserve to also honor the deceased.

The New Seraph further pointed out that the reason for not disclosing its own venue was to forestall possible risk associated with the coronavirus pandemic.

Acts of Seraphs understands that the government has yet to totally relax its directives on social gathering, as Covid-19 cases in the country have shown no sign of abatement.

The body, however, says a programme of such nature would, no doubt, attract a sizeable number of people who want to honour the late cleric, hence its resolve to make it strictly by invitation.

It also urged the members of the public to stay connected to its online platform where the service will be broadcasted live.

“As much as we all love the late Bishop Adepoju as we have it in mind to attend en masse, you’d agree that we still must consider the COVID-19 Precautionary measures for attendees as envisaged, considering social distance and all, hence, the need for us to host the Services of Songs, same day, at different venues, to accommodate more lovers and attendees.

“Nevertheless, we have been receiving thousands of inquiries as per the precise venue for the Service of Songs powered by THE NEW SERAPH, but please note that the Attendance is STRICTLY BY INVITATION.

“This is very necessary so we can have a well coordinated gathering free of Breaches as related to the COVID-19 precautions.

“Meantime, provisions have been made for Online Viewing of the events. You can connect LIVE via The New Seraph Facebook Page.

The deceased, being a man of many parts, had played pivotal roles as a member of the New Seraph while he was alive. Such was the Night of Divine Experience codenamed “NODE” which held last year at Sapade in Ogun state.

Meanwhile, sources disclosed that the date was yet to sit well with members of JASFEM. This had also caused ripples in the group.
