Having scaled through the year 2018, a spirit-lifting charge laced with the word of God is all that is needed to forge ahead in a new year. Members of Cherubim and Seraphim church across the nation, however, got this in abundance during their first Sunday service in the year.
Basking in the euphoria of the ecstasies that abound in the service, worshipers at the Sacred Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Imole Olorun Tan – Oke Ayo, Akinjagunla Street in Ondo town could not hold back their joy as they gathered to praise God for his enduring mercies and protection.
Apostle Prophet Possibilitarian Oluwalofunmilomobi in his word of exhortation titled: “Mercy” harped on the book of Esther chapter 2, verses 1 through 15.
He explained why members must pray to enjoy the mercy of God this new year, as mercy prevails over judgement. In his word, when a man enjoys the mercy of God even his enemies will be at peace with him.
Shortly after the sermon, members of the church and other worshippers offered thanksgiving unto God through dance, melodious songs and clapping of hands for protecting their lives and that of their families all through last year and granting them the grace to witness another new year.
It was a similar development at the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church 1 Jalingo, Taraba State as they celebrate the first Sunday in the new year with songs of praise and dance. The service featured Holy Communion and Anointing service.
The leader of the church Sp/Apt/ John Aina who preached during the service admonished the members to pursue a “new name” in the new year, citing the book of Genesis chapter 2:20 where Adam named the birds of the air and other animals.
He added that having a new name doesn’t mean changing one’s real name but a change in status, class or position.
He, however, called on the congregation to reminisce in the event of the past and call for a sober reflection and beseech the members to take a step like Jabez did in 1 chronicles 4:9 and Genesis 32:27.
He concluded by telling the members to ensure a change in their current position in the year 2019 and aspire to be a great and better person in the new year.
At El Shalom Spiritual Church of Christ, Mowe, Ogun State, both the young and old were full of gratitude to God for yet another journey in the new year 2019.
The leader of the fold, Pastor Ezekiel Adegboyega in his exhortation charged Christians to walk more in the spirit and have a rich relationship with God in order to have a fulfilled and successful year.
“As Christians, we are to offer undiluted worship to our Creator, fellowship with Him in the spirit and let go of every work of the flesh as this would make the year a success”, said Pastor Adegboyega.
Speaking on the preparation on the forthcoming “Month of Covenant” which will channel the 10th year Anniversary of the church in March, Pastor Adegboyega urged the congregation to remain steadfast in the work of God and duty to humanity.
In the same vein, enthusiastic members of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Birnin Kebbi branch, Kebbi state, gave glory to God for sparing them through the just concluded year.
Almost every section of the programme was anchored on thanksgiving.
In his sermon, the Prophet-in-charge; Most Senior Apostle Prophet Taiwo Oduyebo urged the fold to continually give thanks to God for he deserves nothing than the praises of his people.
He also made some prophetic declarations shortly after the sermon.
Congregants at Cherubim and Seraphim Church (JJJC) Oke Ira, Ogba Ikeja Lagos also had cause to express appreciation to God for the grace of witnessing a new year.
Supt. Aps. Engr. O. A Davies (MIC) preached on the topic ‘Review of the past years ‘. In his message, he charged the congregation to cast their minds back and reflect on how the works committed to their hands, last year, were handled. He also asked: “What will be your reward if your work is been reviewed in heaven? He maintained that such reflection will guide them through as they begin another journey this year.
It was indeed a crowded atmosphere to behold at Goshen Household Cherubim and Seraphim church, 10 sholanke street, off old Akute road Iju, Fagba Lagos State, being the first Sunday in the year.
A full section of praise and worship led by the covenant praise Team GOSHENHOUSEHOLD church starting with a Thanksgiving hymn 126 (Olorun ailopin iwo).
A spirit filled sermon was delivered by the shepherd in charge, Pastor Abayomi Akande titled “the perfect God”. The entire congregation were led in prayer and were served the Holy Communion ushered by all pastors and prophets through the ministration of the choir in hymns and all lives were rededicated back to Christ.
At Holy Church of Christ, C&S Ayo Orisun Iye (a.k.a. Garden of Peace), the minister-in-charge, Venerable Arch Deacon M. K. Dairo took the sermon on the topic “Starting Well”. He pointed out the need for believers to begin the year with God and diligence. There was a long session of Thanksgiving after the sermon as different families in the church expressed their gratitude to God. The church which was founded by Captain Mother and Snr. Prophetess A.
