A former Chief Public Relations Officer of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Snr. Superintendent Apostle Muyiwa Adeyemi, has urged members of the fold and Christians alike to start comparing their budgets for evangelism and anniversary programmes.
Elder Adeyemi, who gave the admonition while delivering a lecture at the Mid-Year Conference of the the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Hotonu Mother church held in Ogun State last weekend, also harped on the need to consider spending more on evangelism.
He said, “This is the time to begin to compare our budget for evangelism to various anniversaries where we cook, eat and drink to satisfy demands of the flesh
“Any church spending more on celebrations than evangelism is not only selfish because the Bible says those that have been saved should stand up for the salvation of others but has not focused on its mandate of preaching the gospel to the nooks and crannies of the world.”
The clergyman also cited bible passages such as Romans 14:17-20; Acts 13:47, Galatians 6:2 and Philippians 2:4 to support his submission.
While commending the fold for its evangelism drive, over time, he said, “as we resolve to intentionally reach out with the gospel message, let us also be intentional in embracing 21st century methods to enhance our effectiveness.”
