Spotlight On Two Seraphs Who Won NYSC Presidential Awards

From the publisher’s desk

As at the time we were about floating Acts of Seraphs platform, our first port of call for an interview was the Chief PRO of the church, Supt Apostle Muyiwa Adeyemi. Obviously, such move had an underlining reason which was to review the public perception of the church at the time. Quite expectedly, the church’s image maker, without being immodest, stated in the interview that no one would tell our story better as a C&S church except we do it ourselves. His submission however wasn’t far from reality if the narratives being peddled about the church before now was anything to go by. Meanwhile, when information got to us about a worthwhile feat achieved by the duo of Seraph Adesola Afusat Odukoya and Seraph Alege Olawale Samuel, we wondered why it didn’t get the best of publicity it deserves. The two Seraphs were, among their colleagues, hosted to a dinner at the banquet hall of the presidential villa, Abuja, in 2019 having won the National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, presidential award. These were combination of Corp members who served and won state awards between the year 2015 through 2017. The event witnessed the presence of top functionaries led by vice president Yemi Osinbajo and the then Minister for Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung. They were also hosted by the deputy governor of Ogun state alongside other state indigents who won the awards.

As Seraphs, not only have they made the C&S church proud, they have equally set a pace that younger generation of Seraphs would always take a cue from. They’ll also continue to be a reference point for inspiration and encouragement in the fold. We, therefore, deemed it an obligation to tell their story. A story laced with tenacity of purpose. A story of grace that ultimately translates to victory. It also behooves on us to add them up to the list of Seraphs who made the church proud in the year 2019, as contained in one of our reports at the tail end of last year.

While Seraph Adesola, a graduate of Geography and Environmental Management from Tai Solarin University, served in Taraba state with 2014/2015 batch A set, Seraph Olawale, a graduate of Computer Engineering from Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, served in Plateau state with 2015/2016 batch A set.

RECOGNIZED BUT YET TO BE REWARDED

It may interest you to know that the two were the only Seraphs among over 168 awardees selected across the country. And it remains a sheer coincidence that they both hailed from Ijebu Ode local government area of Ogun state where they were equally honoured. We, however, understand that most of their colleagues were hosted to a reception at their respective denominations. Beyond reception, they were also rewarded with incentives meant to elevate their social and economic status. We, therefore, believe these two do not deserve anything less of such benevolence, thus our resolve to put them on the spotlight.

It is worth to note that the C&S Unification Church of Nigeria under the leadership of His Most Eminence, Prophet Adegboyega Alao JPil, had, overtime, prioritized the need to recognize and reward Seraphs who achieve remarkable feats. Perhaps, it has a way of enlivening the spirit of other Seraphs to follow suit.

Meanwhile, as it stands, not much has been done to appreciate these two Seraphs. So much that they had been recognized, they were yet to be rewarded. The promises of job employment and scholarship made to them at Aso villa remain in the pipeline. Nothing has been heard of also at the state level, even while other states immediately engaged their indigents.

The church they’ve made proud, hereby, remains their resort to cover this gap. It may not have to be from the leadership of the church, as anyone who bears name with the church could do the needful by making this a reality. For them to have come this far in achieving this feat, one can only imagine what more they would do with whatsoever they are rewarded with.

Surely, we can be the reward they deserve.
