The convener of Hours of Working Hand Of God, Prophet Gabriel Gandonu, has advised church talents against making monetary reward a criteria for their service to God.
Prophet Gandonu made the assertion during an online media chat with Seraph Moyosoreoluwa Falade on Ministerial Gifts.
He explained that there is a difference between ministering in a church unit and offering a professional service to the church.
Addressing the issue of instrumentalists who demand being paid by their churches, the prophet clarified; “You are mixing being a professional with being in a unit. You owe allegiance to the church. Your profession is different from your allegiance in a department in church.”
“If church instrumentalists are paid, then lead singers should be paid, the backup singers should be paid too.”
Prophet Gandonu however added that it is not out of place for the church to appreciate their talents and artistes.
He said, “If you invite guest artistes and pay them, you must also pay your members whom you use as guest artistes.”
While admonishing church talents to see anything given by the church as a privilege and not right, he added that those who stopped going to church while claiming they were not appreciated should understand that they are working for God and not man.
