A fervent preacher of the word of God, Apostle Seyi Akinlade, has said there is no classification when it comes to speaking in tongues.
He also clarified that there is no such thing as Seraphic or Pentecostal tongues, as all forms of speaking in tongues are of the Holy Spirit that grants utterance.
The use of tongues when praying, especially among Seraph youths has raised concern in some quarters. While some perceive it as an import of the Pentecostal church, others see it as strange to the type that is known to the Cherubim and Seraphim fold.
Speaking at the just concluded 24hrs retreat of the Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide Church; a fellowship of C&S youths from all over the world, Apostle Akinlade stated that the use of tongues only comes in dimensions.
The retreat which is the first physical meeting of the platform was held at The Eternal Sacred Order of C&S, Orimolade Cathedral situated at Egbe area of Lagos.
Apostle Akinlade who ministered using the theme of the retreat: “Eagle’s Wings” (Isa 40:31) said the dimensions are times you decide to pray in the Holy Spirit and times when the Holy Ghost come upon you through a particular song.
Citing the book of Joel 2:28, he said, “with the level of Grace upon your life, you can build your most Holy Faith by deciding to pray in the Holy Ghost and you don’t have to wait for them to sing a particular C&S song.”
He further stated that, “There are dimensions peculiar to Seraphs, where there is a certain song we sing before the Holy Spirit comes upon us. There is also another dimension that you don’t need that atmosphere, but you can become the atmosphere by praying in the Holy Ghost.”
According to him, when you fall in trance, you can still retain some memory, adding that you will still be left with a little bit of consciousness.
He said, “I have been in trance before, and I could still hear the tongue I spoke. And I can still speak it during my prayer time. I can decide to build up myself because I want to enter into something. I want to move into a particular dimension. So, I don’t have to wait till I get to church for a song ministration before I go into the spirit.”
Speaking earlier in the same vein, Pastor Benedict Ayodele said, Seraphs should be mindful of the essence of speaking in tongues according to the dictates of the scriptures, and not how it sounds.
He also recalled how he was approached by an elder in the C&S church who queried the way he speaks in tongues. He said he had to enlighten him.
He, however, noted that speaking in tongues has a way of fortifying a Christian against any form of temptation enabled by the flesh. According to him, the Holy Spirit is always ready to help overcome the temptation.
