Superintendent Apostle Abidemi James Akindele, an associate professor in the department of pharmacology, University of Lagos, has been officially named as the new spiritual head of the Sacred C&S church, Ifelodun parish in the Agege area of Lagos State.
This followed his ordination and installation service held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the church auditorium.
Elder Akindele succeeded his father, the late Apostle S.K Akindele who steered the affairs of the Church between 1999 and 2021.
The newly installed leader promised to build on the solid foundation that was laid before he assumed the new position.
He said, “I am committed to build on the solid foundation that has been laid and pursuing priorities and established goals through ways and means in tandem with the present reality. So, as a Church we will continue to invest more in teaching the Word of God via Sunday school, Bible study, and Evangelism which is the primary assignment that our Lord Jesus Christ gave to us, with the promise of His presence with us.
“We will do more in the area of the welfare of members and capacity building for Spiritual and professional advancement. Same for youth involvement and advancement in various spheres relating to the Church and matters of life. So much the Church will do and be involved in under my leadership,” he added.
Elder Akindele, who also spoke glowingly of his predecessor, said he led a selfless service and generosity towards the work of God.
He said, “He (his father) showed us the path of selfless service, generosity towards the work of God and others, and diligence in the discharge of duties and responsibilities. He led from the front and by example in all that needs to be done. During his reign, the Church gained strength and made great progress in diverse areas, including impartation of the undiluted Word of God, Sunday School, and Evangelism, winning laurels, and attracting recognition within the Body of Christ. He believed strongly in youth participation and empowerment.”
Elder Akindele was unanimously selected by the Elders Council of the Church on Sunday, February 27, 2022.
The decision was ratified at a meeting of the Church Committee on Sunday, March 6, 2022, followed by his unveiling and unanimous acceptance by the congregation of the Church on Sunday, March 13, 2022.
“Let me say that Elder Apostle S.K Akindele apart from being our Spiritual father, was my Biological father. However, the decision to appoint me to succeed him as Minister-In-Charge of the Sacred Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Idapo Mimo (Communion of Saints), Ifelodun Parish was a decision by the Church devoid of bias consideration for affiliation or association,” he told Acts of Seraphs.
Dignitaries present at the event include, the Supreme Head Baba Olori of the C&S Unification Church of Nigeria His Most Eminence, Prophet Dr. Solomon Adegboyega Alao (JPil)), the Chairman of the Sacred C&S Church, Lagos District Church Council (LDCC) Agege and Lagos Joint District Church Council, His Grace Senior Elder Apostle Dr. Adebola Olubunmi Odubela JPIl); the Chaplain of the Chapel of Restoration, C&S Unification Church of Nigeria, Maba Special Apostle Akin Owolabi JPil and a host of others.
