Robbery Attack: How Esther Ajayi Rejects Safety Advances, Seeks Refuge In God

Just by the mention of the name – Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi – what immediately comes to mind is a thought about the bearer and what she personifies which is her exemplary nature of giving.

The renowned philanthropist who is also the founder of the Love Of Christ Generation Church has, as a result of this, won the hearts of millions of admirers. Meanwhile, such feat was obviously not achieved by a sudden flight, but through what she has always described as a character of her, consistently nurtured from childhood.

However, while a sizeable number of those who know or may have heard about her, diligently hold the view that her large heart is second to none, her husband, Dr. Ademuyiwa Ajayi, apparently considers that rather incomparable to how she resolutely keeps faith with God and puts such to action.

This is not unconnected to his narratives on how he was left in awe when her wife did the unthinkable during an armed robbery attack on their home a couple of years back.

In what was contained in a book written by Bode Odeseye and titled: “Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi – Exceptionally Outstanding” which chronicles her success story; Ademuyiwa narrated how her wife turned down advances from him to seek safety, as she resorted to rather seek refuge in God through faith.

According to him, such experience could not be forggoten in a jiffy, as he had never seen such faith in God as demonstrated by her during the incidence.

Excerpts: “A very harrowing experience took place at their first house in Ketu, Lagos, confirming Abimbola’s unshakable faith in God. Dare-devil armed robbers struck in the dead of the night. Ademuyiwa was the first to hear the whispering voices of the robbers in their compound. He went to the balcony of the house to investigate and on sighting him, the robbers shot at him. The bullets only missed him by inches! With bathed breath, he ran headlong into the master- bedroom where Abimbola was. Meanwhile, the rest of the family, Abimbola and her four children had been rudely woken up by the gun shots.Unknown to the robbers, the beautiful house they wanted to rob its occupants had an underground facility. Ademuyiwa was confident the family would be safe, once they moved into the underground apartment. on getting to the bedroom, he explained the situation to Abimbola and informed her of the need to promptly move underground with children, before the robbers broke their way into the house. “To my consternation, she said, ‘Let us kneel down and pray.’ Immediately she uttered these words, she knelt down and started praying. I was transfixed. I stared at her, mouth agape. Instead of escaping underground, all she wanted was for us to kneel down and pray!” Ademuyiwa said.

“Soon, the robbers broke into the room while Abimbola was praying and Ademuyiwa reealized they could no longer escape underground. Abimbola was praying fervently on her knees when the robbers break into their bedroom, menancingly brandishing guns and cutlasses. They demanded for money and jewelry. Ademuyiwa brought out meagre sum of money he kept at home and gave to them. Abimbola had smartly dropped the bag containing her jewellery near the window curtain and the robbers walked past it severally, without seeing it! After a fruitless search of the house, they left without satisfaction and the family heaved a sigh of relief. “I can never forget that experience. I have never seen such faith in God!” Ademuyiwa said.
