Three More Seraphs Strike Gold, Silver as Gateway Games End

Seraphs Omolola Didih, Opeyemi Quadri and Oladimeji Sodeinde have joined the ranks of Seraph medalists after their remarkable performances at the just-concluded National Sports Festival in Ogun State.

Seraph Omolola secured two gold medals and one silver medal in the 55kg weightlifting category, while Opeyemi took home a silver medal in the 49kg category.

Seraph Oladimeji, being the captain, led his team to win gold in the male handball category of the competition.

Their success came on the heels of earlier victories by fellow Seraphs, Oluwasegun Ajao Tunde, Florence Olarinoye and Ronke Olarinoye.

Acts of Seraphs reported that Seraph Oluwasegun competed in the arm wrestling category and emerged as the top athlete in Nigeria, winning two gold medals.

Before the festival, Seraph Oluwasegun was already recognised as the second-best arm wrestler in Africa, having secured two silver medals at the African Armwrestling Championship.

In weightlifting, Seraph Florence won a silver medal in the 59kg category, earning her the position of second-best in the competition.

Florence is the niece of renowned Nigerian weightlifter Seraph Adenike Olarinoye, who brought home Nigeria’s first gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the United Kingdom.

Remarkably, Florence also made history as an athlete whose mother competed alongside her at the same event.

Her mother, Ronke, who is the elder sister of Seraph Adenike, secured both gold and bronze medals in the 45kg weightlifting category.

Oladimeji, who represented Ogun State, is a member of The Eternal Sacred Order, C&S King of Salem headquarters, Ijeja Abeokuta, Ogun State, while other athletes are members of Fountain of Freedom C&S Church, Makoko, Lagos State.
