The convener of Grace For All Men International Ministry, Prophet Abraham Adebayo, has recounted how his mother laid the foundation for his prophetic ministry by becoming his first spiritual discipler and teaching him the discipline required to sustain the gift.

He said his mother became concerned about his spiritual development after she noticed what he described as the manifestation of the prophetic gift in his life.

Speaking on the Cheser Media Podcast, the cleric said that while his elder brothers celebrated the development and told him they now had a prophet in the family, his mother took a different approach by warning him about the responsibilities that came with the gift.

He said his mother cautioned him against acts that could affect his relationship with God and ultimately undermine his prophetic calling.

He said, “The first time my mother saw that the hands of the Lord rested on me, she was my first discipler in the spiritual gift. She was the one that taught me things that I should not touch.

“When she saw that everybody was celebrating, my elder brothers came to me and said, ‘Wow, we now have a prophet. So, my mother called me, sat me down and said, ‘See, this thing that came upon you, you can lose it.’”

According to him, his mother particularly emphasised the need for truthfulness, reminding him that God would not use a person who lived a life of deceit.

“She told me, ‘God will not use a liar.’ And she reminded me of that Psalm that says, ‘He who practices deceit will not dwell in my house; he who tells lies and half-truths will not continue to remain in my presence.’

“She also told me, ‘God will not use a covetous man.’ If you are covetous, your vision will not be clear,” he recalled.

Adebayo said his mother also warned him against sexual immorality, advising him to guard himself carefully if he wanted to preserve the spiritual gift.

The prophet added that his mother equally warned him against stealing and advised him to be deliberate about his words.

Beyond the warnings, Adebayo said his mother also introduced him to spiritual disciplines, including fasting, prayer and night watches, which he said helped shape his spiritual life.

He said, “She taught me fasting, she taught me prayers, she taught me how to stand in the night watch.

“So, those things actually kept me and tied me down until God brought the gospel my way. They laid the foundation upon which we were now able to enter into the gospel.”

Adebayo said the lessons he received from his mother ultimately became an important foundation for his journey into the gospel and prophetic ministry.

The prophet further disclosed that he was born into the C&S fold, adding that his father was a prophet while his mother was a seer.

He said his involvement in the prophetic ministry predated his conversion, saying he first experienced what he described as the manifestation of the prophetic gift on Palm Sunday in March 1989.

“I came into the prophetic ministry even before I got born again. On Palm Sunday, March 1989, that was the first time the hand of God rested upon me, and I had the gift of prophecy,” he said.

He added that other spiritual gifts, including discernment, seeing, speaking in diverse tongues and interpretation of tongues, later manifested.

The cleric added he gave his life to Christ during a Cherubim and Seraphim revival meeting in 1997, describing the experience as the beginning of his journey in the Christian faith and ministry.
