Succour came the way of comic actor, Babatunde Omidina, better known as Baba Suwe on Monday as Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi of the Love of Christ Generation Church donated a substantial amount of N10m to support his medical treatment abroad.
Acts Of Seraphs had earlier reported how the ailing actor got the intervention of the renowned philanthropist and evangelist.
Details
have however emerged on how Iya Adura, as Esther Ajayi is otherwise
referred to, learnt of the actor’s deteriorating health.
A reliable source who spoke with Acts Of Seraphs said
one Mr. Biodun Paseda who is a member of Love Of Christ Generation
Church in the United Kingdom facilitated the intervention.
The
source disclosed how Paseda was approached by Gbenga Adewusi of Bayowa
Films who craved the assistance of Mama Ajayi on behalf of the ailing
actor who he had earlier visited at the Lagos University Teaching
Hospital, LUTH.
Baba
Suwe’s failing health became public knowledge when he called on
Nigerians not to let him die of his sickness. His colleagues in the
movie industry had since thrown their weight behind him, just as they
solicit support on his behalf.
Having
been briefed on the situation of the comic actor, Paseda in his
magnanimity soon conveyed the message to Mama Esther Ajayi.
According to the source, Ajayi, whom giving is not just a character but a lifestyle to her swiftly rose to the occasion as she was said to have put a call through to Baba Suwe to know how he was faring, just as she prayed for him.
“She
took Baba Suwe unawares as she donated a lump sum of N10m on Monday
morning and a flight ticket to the United States where the actor is
expected to undergo his proposed medical treatment” the source said.
The
gesture had, in the last 24 hours, drawn commendations from members of
the public as they offered Esther Ajayi prayers in torrents.
I Almost Fainted When I Received The Money – Baba Suwe
Reacting to the development, Baba Suwe in a video currently in circulation said he almost fainted when he got the money.
Speaking in an emotion-laden voice in his his hospital bed, Baba Suwe expressed how he got enlivened with the intervention of Iya Adura.
The comic actor who got sobered up with his condition has been getting pockets of supports from across the country in the past few days. The intervention of Ajayi however was the fillip he needed to come to terms with the fact that all hope is not lost for him.
He was also full of praises as he extolled the virtues of Iya Adura, describing her as a good woman.
“Words
fail me to pray for her but I know my God will. She even called to
speak with me on phone including her husband” he added.
In
the same vein, the source who craved anonymity revealed how Esther
Ajayi equally came to the rescue of a prominent female gospel artiste
who needed financial assistance to undergo surgery in January.
The
source revealed how a popular female Juju singer met with Iya Adura on
behalf of the ailing artiste for financial assistance. The renowned
philanthropist, afterwards, donated over half a million to settle the
medical bills and personal upkeep.
Esther Ajayi had on numerous occasions put smiles on people’s faces through one financial support or the other.
