The Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, says its 27th Annual Youth Convention will award N500,000 to the winner of its Bible Quiz Competition.
The four-day convention, tagged ZION 2026 — The Dwelling Place of God, will hold from Thursday, November 5, to Sunday, November 8, at Seraphim Land, Kilometre 40, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Maba, Ogun State.
The chairman of the convention committee, Bro Segun Odufuwa, said the gathering was expected to attract thousands of young people from different constituent churches and local divisions.
He said the grand finale of the Bible Quiz Competition, which had already started before the convention, would feature a cash prize of N500,000, while an impromptu speech competition slated to hold during the camping would offer N250,000 to the winner.
According to him, the competitions were designed to promote biblical literacy, encourage a deeper understanding of Scripture and develop participants’ confidence, critical thinking and communication skills.
Odufuwa added that the cash prizes for the Bible quiz and impromptu speech competitions were intended not only to reward winners but also to recognise excellence and encourage young people to develop their knowledge and abilities.
Odufuwa explained that the theme, Zion, represented a place of divine encounter, spiritual renewal and communion with God, adding that the organisers wanted participants to experience spiritual growth while discovering their potential and developing skills to navigate life.
He said, “We want to create an atmosphere where young people can encounter God afresh, discover their potential, build meaningful relationships and receive the inspiration and practical knowledge needed to navigate life successfully.
“Beyond the excitement associated with youth camping, ZION 2026 is designed to be a life-changing experience that ministers to the spirit, develops the mind, builds character and equips participants for leadership and responsible living.”
The chairman said the programme had been structured to address the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and social needs of participants through Bible teachings, revival sessions, leadership and entrepreneurship lectures, seminars, talent exhibitions and competitions.
He added that the organisers were deliberate about ensuring that the convention offered young people opportunities to encounter God, discover their talents, acquire relevant skills and build relationships that could positively influence their future.
Speaking on activities lined up for the convention, Odufuwa said participants should expect Bible teachings, prayer sessions and revival programmes aimed at strengthening their faith and deepening their relationship with God.
Other activities scheduled for the convention include a talent show, inter-house competitions and aerobics, which he said would promote creativity, teamwork, physical wellness and healthy competition.
Odufuwa said the convention would climax with a musical concert tagged Iyin Aladun, featuring gospel artistes in an atmosphere of praise, worship and celebration.
He urged intending campers to participate actively in the activities, saying, “Do not come merely to observe; come ready to learn, worship, compete, connect, discover your gifts and make the most of every opportunity available.”
On what distinguishes this year’s edition from previous conventions, the chairman said the organisers had placed greater emphasis on combining spiritual transformation with practical development, talent discovery and the overall growth of young people.
He said the planning committee had continued to assess previous editions and identify ways to make each new gathering more meaningful, particularly by equipping participants with leadership capacity, an entrepreneurial mindset, communication skills and personal discipline.
He said the ultimate measure of the convention’s success would be its impact on participants rather than the number of activities or prizes, adding that the organisers wanted them to return home with stronger faith, clearer direction, stronger values and a renewed sense of purpose.
He said, “Our ultimate goal is to see young people leave the convention spiritually strengthened, mentally enriched, socially connected and better equipped to make positive contributions to their families, the Church and society.
“We believe that when young people are properly nurtured in faith, equipped with knowledge and given opportunities to develop their gifts, they become a formidable force for positive change.”
