Firebrand minister of the word, Pastor Segun Michael, has expressed concern about the way some young ministers in the Cherubim and Seraphim church address the elderly ones in the fold.
He cautioned the youths not be overwhelmed by the anointing of God upon them to the point of disrespecting the elders who have both anointing and experience.
The clergyman disclosed this on Friday at Seraph Night 2022; a programme organised by the Youth Fellowship of C&S Movement Church, Osogbo District Headquarters.
According to him, the youths should be rather mindful of how to benefit from what God had deposited in the older adults before they pass away.
‘‘I used to pity the youths. I am also a youth, but I mean the ones that I am older than. I wonder why some of them get intoxicated by their anointing. I was present where one of them was ministering and he said, ‘All these elders, I don’t know what is wrong with them’. I was shocked and said, will this one go far at all?
‘‘I was the one who first declared that if you have an anointing, you do not have the experience our fathers have. Our fathers carry something inside of them, and you do not have to let them die with it. We have zeal but our zeal is without understanding. Elders can make mistakes, but make sure that you don’t also make mistakes in the course of trying to correct them, so that you don’t miss it in life.’’
Pastor Michael, better known by the acronym, PSM, would go on to clarify that he never disrespected the late spiritual head of CSMC Surulere District Headquarters, Prophet G.O Fakeye, when he was alive.
While claiming that he respects the elders, as anyone close to him knows, he wondered why some people still go about making false allegations against him.
“Anyone close to me knows that I will not disrespect the elders. My father is a prophet, there are things I don’t like about him, but If I see him today, I will prostrate before him. You can ask our fathers in Surulere, how I behave when I see them in public. Even when I see them at any programme, I will drop the microphone, and prostrate without minding my well-starched cloth. My anointing has not gotten to the level that will make me misbehave towards them, so that it will not turn to annoyance.
“That was how some said I don’t have regard towards Baba Fakeye before he passed away. Meanwhile, someone once approached me and said we worship Baba Fakeye in our church, and i said, ‘yes, I am one of those worshipping him.’ I don’t know why people just like to frame stories. As I am, I can never disrespect our fathers.”
He, however noted that his regard for the elders will not stop him from saying the truth, as he would not mix both. “I address it instantly, I will not mix respect with the truth. There is no way I won’t respect an elder, no matter what I become in life. If you have anointing more than them, you still do not have what they have. That is why I don’t play with the elders.”
