Come Sunday, June 12, 2022, members of the Glory of God Cherubim and Seraphim, Tx will give it all to God in gratitude to celebrate the church’s 10 years of existence.
The annual thanksgiving anniversary has, in previous years, been a three-day affair that runs from Friday through Sunday. The Friday program tagged, Jubal Night, is a night of intense praise and worship, while the Saturday program features a talk show tagged, Anathema. The anniversary thanksgiving proper, however holds on Sunday.
The high point of this year’s anniversary is the official unveiling of the theme song of a documentary project titled: Anathema – The White Garment Experience.
As a church that anchors its activities on the dictates of the Holy Spirit, same can be said of what inspires the theme of this year’s anniversary – “God Reigns”.
There is no gainsaying the fact that the theme succinctly captures how God had journeyed with a church that started barely a decade ago with a group of few individuals who were burning with the passion of propagating the kingdom of God.
What passes for how the disciples of Jesus started out with the encounter in the upper room and grew almost uncontrollably in number as recorded in the scriptures explains the current twist and path the Glory of God Cherubim and Seraphim (GOGCS) Church has treaded.
This group of zealous and fiery individuals who believe prayer holds the key to overwhelming miracles that the world is yet to see, came together and formed a prayer warrior ministry. It was only a matter of time that their families joined, and it soon became a household meeting.
At the time, each member worshipped in various churches, so the prayer meeting held once a week. As time passed, every member soon realized there was more to the gathering as a result of the feeling of divine fulfillment realized from the occasional gathering.
In their quest for a more stable venue for prayer meetings as opposed to being mobile, having moved the meeting around for quite a while, they eventually settled at the house of the resident pastor, Samuel Ogunyooye, somewhere in Allen, Dallas,Texas, United States.
It was soon afterwards that God revealed the name, “Glory of God Cherubim and Seraphim” to Pastor Sam, as what He wanted the gathering of his people to be called.
With a humble background from the 1970s, GOGCS has its roots traceable to a parent church in Lagos, Nigeria—the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Glory of God under the guardianship of the spiritual head and founder, Prophet Joseph Ijaola Ogunyooye (Atunbi Jesu, meaning A rebirth of Jesus )
Just as the legs grow fonder to march on when the routes are clearly mapped, so is the case of a ministry that has its vision and mission statement clearly written, serving as a template and guide for the remarkable advancement of the church over the years.
GOGCS church finds great comfort in what the Lord has shown to be its primary assignment captured by its vision “To preach the gospel to all people; irrespective of background, orientation, affiliation, creed, color and tongue and to herald to all souls that Jesus is the way to eternal salvation”.
Furthermore, It is a church on a mission to “Adopt all God-given means and resources available to us as individuals, family units and as a family of God to inform the world that God is love.”
With a strong belief system entirely premised on the powers of the cross, the person of Jesus Christ the Son of God and the Holy Trinity, GOGCS conveniently indulges in the following practices in what could best be code-named the five P’s. These include Passion for Preaching, Prayers, Praise, Prophecy and People.
Jubal Night
This year’s anniversary will take an unusual dimension. Starting with the Jubal Night, an array of gospel artistes are scheduled to minister. These include: Olufemi Ashaye (Sir Judah), Esther Faloye (Femi Soft), Nuel Adeyeye, Linda Queen Adigun, Erikemi Momoh, Elijah Dubaniel and the GOGCS choir.
Anathema – The Unveiling
On Saturday, the church will host a talk show tagged: Anathema. The platform allows for an exhaustive deliberation on the white garment church, especially the Cherubim and Seraphim, addressing issues such as the dislike for Seraphs, with the aim of changing the wrong perception in the public. The talk show, which enters its 5th year started in 2018, will have an array of guest ministers including Pastor Sola Dada, Prophet Taye Matthew, Special Apo. Akin Owolabi, Apostle Shola Adebayo and the host Pastor Sam Ogunyooye. However, the documentary theme song to be unveiled during the thanksgiving service will be released to the public afterwards. The theme song produced by ID Tunes, features Dare Fashola, Israel Classic and ID Olohuniyo. The main documentary project will be released in the last quarter of the year.
The documentary which was shot in both the United States and Nigeria is produced by Pastor Samuel Ogunyooye and features both members of the church and prominent actors in the Nigeria movie industry, Nollywood.
Also expected to minister at the anniversary is Pastor Musa Yesufu, Special Apo. Victor Ogunwole and Snr. Supt Apo Francis Okhiria.
