Baba Alogbo Urges Sustained Prayers As Mount Horeb Ascension Begins May 3

The Chairman and Spiritual Father of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide (Ayo Ni O) has called for practical action and sustained prayers for Nigeria’s protection and restoration ahead of its 57th Annual Mount Horeb Ascension.

Alogbo made the call in a statement signed on Thursday by the church spokesperson, Femi Okutubo, ahead of the week-long programme scheduled to commence on May 3, 2026.

According to him, the country is currently grappling with deepening economic hardship, persistent inflation and widespread food insecurity, alongside worsening insecurity across various regions.

He said, “Our country faces deepening economic hardship, persistent inflation, and widespread food insecurity. These material struggles are compounded by a deteriorating security environment, including kidnapping for ransom, banditry, insurgency and recurring farmer-herder conflicts.”

The cleric added that attacks on churches and the killing of Christians had also heightened concerns among citizens.

While commending the macroeconomic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the cleric urged the Federal Government to ensure that the gains translate to tangible benefits for ordinary Nigerians.

He also called for closer monitoring of intervention programmes to ensure that the intended relief reached the majority of citizens.

“As the country looks toward another electoral cycle, we call on political actors, electoral institutions, and citizens alike to uphold the integrity of democratic processes and to govern with the accountability the nation demands,” he added.

The church also expressed concern over ongoing global conflicts, including the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, calling for ceasefires, protection of civilians and renewed commitment to diplomacy.

It warned against rising nuclear tensions and urged world leaders to embrace de-escalation and disarmament efforts.

Speaking on the theme of this year’s programme, “Covenant of Mercy,” the Head of the church’s Prophetic Ministry, Prophet Joel Olayinka Adeniran, said the gathering would focus on seeking divine intervention for national and global challenges.

He said, “Mount Horeb is a place of encounter, instruction and transformation. This year, we ascend with a burden for Nigeria and nations of the world to confront insecurity, economic hardship and spiritual decline.”

Also speaking, the Conference Secretary General, Prophet Anthony Olusesan Samaye, said the event would serve as a platform for faith leaders to advocate responsible leadership and unity among citizens.

“At this critical moment, we are called not only to pray but to speak truth to power and stand as watchmen over the nations,” he said.

The week-long programme is scheduled to hold at the church’s international headquarters in Orile Igbon, Oyo State, with activities running daily from May 3 to May 10.

Dignitaries expected to attend the event include traditional rulers, government officials, and religious leaders, among others.
