Manager Urges Preservation of Aduke Gold’s Memory

The former band manager of late gospel singer Aduke Gold, Elijah Mayor, has called for concerted efforts to preserve the memory of the late singer.

He lamented that little was being done to sustain her legacy two years after her death. Aduke Gold passed away on August 12, 2024.

Speaking to ACTS OF SERAPHS in an interview marking the second anniversary of her death, Elijah said efforts to keep the singer’s memory alive had yet to yield the desired result, adding that both the family and the band had struggled to sustain her legacy.

“Nothing is being done to preserve her legacy. We tried, but it has not been working, both within the family and the band,” he said.

Mayor, however, advocated the continuation of Aduke’s monthly Judah Ginger programme as part of efforts to immortalise her memory.

“We should continue her monthly Judah Ginger programme in her memory. I don’t want her legacy to die,” he said.

Recounting his experience during Aduke’s final days, Mayor said he remained with the singer throughout her illness and was with her until she died at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

He said he was the band captain and acting band manager while she was alive and had accompanied her to several hospitals in search of treatment.

He said, “I don’t want to have issues with anyone again because I was really dragged when she died, and a lot of things happened that caused problems between me, the family and the band.

“I was the band captain and acting band manager while she was alive, and I happened to be the one who stayed with her throughout her final moments. I was with her from Madaniyah Women’s Hospital in Igando to LUTH in Idi-Araba, then to AJ Rapha Diagnostic Centre in Berger, a gynaecological hospital in Mowe, OOUTH in Sagamu, Babcock Hospital in Ilishan, and finally UCH in Ibadan, where she gave up the ghost.”

Mayor said the experience took a heavy toll on him, noting that he often slept inside the car while moving between hospitals and sometimes went without sleep because of Aduke’s condition.

“So, I went through a lot of stress during that period. I was sleeping inside the car throughout the whole journey of her sickness. Most times, I could not sleep because of the pain she was going through. At other times, I had to move around different laboratories and pharmacies to get whatever was needed for her.

“I couldn’t even bathe for two weeks because I was constantly attending to her. I wore the same clothes throughout much of the journey. The experience was terrible, and it is a very long story. It was like a whole series film within those three weeks from when I found out what was wrong with her.

“I can’t say it all. I am seriously pained, and no one knows the extent of the stress I went through, the things I did and the prayers I offered throughout those three weeks. Those three weeks felt like three years because of everything that happened. The journey is one I cannot fully explain.”

Mayor also raised concerns over Aduke’s social media accounts, alleging that some of them had been hacked following her death.

He said efforts to recover the accounts resulted in the restoration of her regular Facebook account and one of her email accounts, while access to some other platforms remained lost.

“Regarding her Facebook account, I gave her phone to her sister. All her login details for her social media platforms were on the phone. I later discovered it was hacked. I was only able to recover her normal Facebook account; I could not recover the page.

“I was even sent a threatening message at the time I was trying to recover it. Her email was on my phone because I was trying to secure her social media platforms. Before I could do that, her Instagram, TikTok and two of her email accounts had been hacked.

“I was only able to recover one email account and her normal Facebook account.

“She was the one who logged her email into my phone before her demise. I opened one of the email accounts to secure her Audiomack account, but her Audiomack account has also been hacked,” he said.
