Seraph Youths Cancel Conference Amid Rising Insecurity

The International Youth Fellowship of the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church has announced the cancellation of its 2026 International Bi-Annual Conference and Prophetic Night, citing prevailing security concerns across the country.

The event, themed “Divine Alignment” and scheduled to hold on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church, Osogbo District Headquarters, Osogbo, Osun State, was expected to attract youth members and stakeholders of the Church from within and outside Nigeria.

In a statement jointly signed by the International President, Bro. Akintola Olusoji, and the International Secretary, Bro. Ifeoluwapo Donatus, and made available to Acts of Seraphs by the Public Relations Officer, Bro. Babayemi Samuel, the Fellowship said the decision followed extensive consultations and a comprehensive review of the nation’s security situation.

In recent weeks, the nation has witnessed a series of abduction incidents, including the kidnapping of pupils and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, an incident that sparked nationwide outrage and also resulted in a wave of protests.

According to the statement, recommendations from the International Seraph Youths Security Director, Bro. Alaro Oluwatosin (GOC), played a significant role in the decision. The Fellowship noted that growing concerns over insecurity, kidnappings and risks associated with interstate travel necessitated the suspension of the programme.

The leadership expressed particular concern over the long-distance journeys expected of participants, especially due to the vigil component of the conference, which could have required some attendees to travel during late hours.

“As a responsible Christian organisation, we believe that the preservation of life must remain our highest priority. One safety for all is safety for one,” The International President was quoted as saying.

Despite the cancellation, the International Youth Fellowship Executive Council commended the Osun State Chapter Youth Fellowship for its commitment, sacrifices and preparations towards hosting the event.

The council also appreciated State Chapter Chairmen, International Directors of Directorates, International Youth Presidents and Secretaries of Constituent Churches, as well as other stakeholders who contributed to the planning of the conference.

While acknowledging the disappointment the development may cause members and prospective participants, the Fellowship assured that the objectives of the conference would continue to be pursued through other engagements and appropriate channels.

The leadership further urged members to remain united, prayerful and supportive, while continuing to seek God’s intervention for peace and improved security across Nigeria.

Attention has now shifted to the forthcoming International Youth Convention slated for August 13 to 16, 2026, at Seraphim Land, KM 40 Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Maba, Ogun State.

The Fellowship expressed confidence that the convention would provide a platform for spiritual renewal, fellowship, leadership development and the advancement of the collective vision of the Church’s youth body.

It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity, spiritual growth and youth development within the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church worldwide.
